Harry's teams have always looked good against the Mancs but lost in the end, many times thumped. I won't be holding my breath about them taking points off United. That match at Anfield is looming large. Cheers, Butch

I don't see the hurry to off-load Paulo. He is now 3rd choice right back and a pretty good one at that. He is also a player who has been loyal and not apt to create a fuss for not playing. I don't have a problem whatsoever with us keeping him as a squad player. I also would not touch the spine of Petr, JT, Lamps & Drogs. The "rebuilding", if that is what it is, must be done around them. I am not a proponent of a quick change, but rather a gradual replacement of these players. Younger alternatives can be brought in to "grow" into the team. JT & Lamps, and even Drogs, mean more to Chelsea than just players who fill specific roles on the pitch. The 2 main positions that need refreshing in the off-season IMHO is the Ballack/Deco midfield role and the JCole/Kalou/Malouda/Anelka wide creative midfield position where we need an injection of pace and wizadry. Zhira simply is not as good as Ash. I've not been very happy with him in the sense that I expected more, although, like Paulo, he is an "able replacement". When we have both Ivan and Ash back, I would not be concerned about facing anyone, not even Barca with a back four + keeper of Cech, Ivan, Ash, Alex and JT. That would be one of the strongest defenses in Europe. Of course, having the likes of Ess shielding that back four would be all the better. The sooner we get any of those players back, the better. I think I'm finally over the loss, and while I was hitting panic buttons left, right and center at the end of the game, I'm not thinking it is as bad as it originally seemed. First, before I even begin to talk about our own players, kudos must go to Tevez and Bellamy. Say what you like about them, they really made us pay for some errors in positioning and decision-making. Think about it, City really had nary a look in, especially in that first half, and on the one half-chance they had, they scored. For them, that is high-pressure footballing, and if those two did not take those opportunities to score and give them a 2-1 lead, they could easily have been whacked; well, maybe not whacked as Didier seemed intent on not taking his chances. With regards to changing personnel, I'm a little undecided. For example, Malouda did pretty well against Inter Milan a few days before, so I guess it was natural Carlo would have picked him at left back, and he didn't do too much wrong. The argument against this though, is from the standpoint of what it takes away from our offense. The other three defenders are first choice anyway. Hilario is a toughie. With Petr out, the only choice to make is Hilario or Turnbull, and I have heard some not so nice reviews for Ross in the reserves so I can understand Carlo's decision. I don't think there is too much we can do here except sign a better back-up keeper in the summer if Ross is not up to it. Hilario was originally signed as a 3rd-choice keeper, so we shouldn't really be too surprised. All the other positions were basically established starters anyway, so on paper they shouldn't have collapsed the way they did. It was all down to discipline and the fact the City players were able to rattle us. That is the disappointment. Keeping in mind all the injuries, if I had to choose a starting 11 today, it would be: HILARIO IVAN PAULO JT RICCY MIKEL LAMPARD BALLACK MALOUDA ANELKA DROGBA Not much different to Carlo's side against City; and this with hindsite.
