I would've bitten your hand off if you had offered me that prior to the game starting! Of course it is good enough. I would've taken a one goal defeat, preferably with us getting an away goal, but even with a 1-goal deficit I would feel we would have a chance to overturn it back at the Bridge. I like Dorset's post; he puts it best as far as I am concerned. It is now a one-off tie, akin to an FA Cup match and we have the home advantage. I know who I'd rather be at this moment. With regards to the Barca pitch, there is no denying there is more space to cover, whether it be lengthwise or widthwise it doesn't matter. We have always had to work double time to cover those spaces to get close to the Barca players to defend them effectively, and we have not always been able to do it as well as we would have liked, but we really did a defensive number on them this time. Just as they would have had to be crazy to believe we would have launched an all out attack at the Camp Nou, they would have to be the same and then some if they think we're going to go gung-ho at our place. The only difference is we will be supporting Drogba more than we did there and we will be going for a win. Maybe they will be able to create more chances, but it won't be because we gift them those chances though. They are more than good enough to create their own chances and we will be more than good enough to create our own on our home turf. Lt's not live in fear. If we want to win this competition, we're going to have to believe we can do it - especially with this advantageous position of home advantage. Cheers, Butch

A name to strike fear into opposing defenders? Zhirkov ain't gonna do it either! I doubt he would be MUCH better than Flo', on current form. I would keep him. Good wingers, in general, are in short supply. The situation is even worse with regards to left wingers. I have never heard that Flo' wants to leave. Thus, provided he continues his "passable" form, he would be a good player to have at the club. Left footed players, be they wingers or defenders give a team balance. While I can definitely see Roman making a decision to hire someone in as a "place-maker" manager while waiting for Hiddink (vulture-like on the part of Chelsea innit?), I wonder if this is the best thing to do. Regarding "jinxed second-comings", I think we can definitely make an exception for Jose. However, I am getting more and more convinced that this will not happen, as much as some of us may will it to. I totally agree. First we need a capable back up, and by that I mean someone who is going to push Cech in training and provide a viable alternative. I think he may be getting a bit complacent; not knowingly mind you. Players need to be kept on their toes a bit. Hilario, bless his soul, is an honest, decent third choice but nothing more. Ha, ha, really happy to see Ivanovic being given a chance at right back, and him taking it, even if it may be due to Bosingwa's injury. I always felt he would be more dependable. And goals? My goodness, having an extra threat at set pieces will always be a welcome weapon. BUT...there was only one MoM candidate for me and that was Essien. What an immense performance in snuffing out Gerrard, and thus pretty much Torres as well. That was Hiddink's master stroke for the game and it worked wonders. C'mon, how many of you were expecting Gerrard to be this quiet? Liverpool didn't know how to get going. Cheers, Butch

I'd take it, considering our VERY slim chance of catching either them or Man Utd in the league. It would be quite uncomfortable to have to hear all the Liverpool fans, particularly those in the press, go on and on about it, but they always do even when they don't win so... I'm more interested in our own success. And winning the CL is something we've needed to do as a club to keep our momentum going forwards. Make no bones about it, we've taken a few steps backwards since Jose's departure, and I find it really difficult to believe we can win either of the two big trophies. FA Cup seems our best chance. So, yes, I would take the CL win. We can always say "we beat you in the Champions League" to the Liverpool fans intent on gloating. Despite their likely response, you know it's gotta hurt! By the way, I think Loz's point about making us more attractive to prospective targets is an important one. The CL win would be about this season but good players coming in would be about our future and that, at the moment, is questionable. Cheers, Butch
