Aftermath

Had every intention of taking it easy last night but it was difficult not to have a beer just to celebrate and watched the highlights about 6 times . Unfortuntely i got the usual texts from Pool fans , such as 'Drogba is a cheating c**t' , i tried not to react like a prick but my inbox was on overtime with nasty jibes and bitter reactions. Im dying this morning but it was well worth it , that was a emotional night and watching sky sports news this morning seeing Big nose Thompson get the kick in the nuts he deserved brings a massive smile to my face and a warm feeling of euphoria. Have the panadol lined up, but feeling better after watching Thompson .

I thought JFH who was next to Big nose was absolutely brilliant, totally biased towards us the same as Big nose was for them. Well done Jimmy you are superb.

Why can't Chelsea ever do anything the easy way?

Now the dust has settled, even if the head is still a bit sore, sometimes you need to just take your hat off to both sides and say what an absolute cracking cup-tie. Now I know it's Liverpool, and the rivalry and 'istory between the two, but it's a shame there has to be a loser on nights like last night, football was certainly the winner.

I felt physically drained leaving the ground last night, and I still sound like I was chewing gravel all evening, but what a night! what a cup tie!

It's one of those games/tie's that will be talked about for years to come, it'll go down in HISTORY as an absolute classic.

Well done to the players and supporters who took part in both matches.

Thinking about it .......I'm still lost for words to be honest............

I feel completely drained, but blissfully happy. Slept about 2 hours all in all, my heartrate just wouldn't go down. I can stand losing (albeit while grinding my teeth), but I cannot stand losing to the Scum. Even last season, my high from beating them was bigger than the low from losing the final.

Have done f.a. at work so far :loser:

Unbelievable game. Still haven't recovered... nor has my liver! Obviously delighted to have gone through but...

We were an absolute shambles for the majority of that game. We were within a heart-beat of the most humiliating night in our history. Even given that we finally went through all the talk is about Liverpool when it should have been all about us. Without Lamps (as ever) and the Drog I hate to think what might have happened. It was 2 against 10 out there for much of the game. What the hell has happened to our defence? Cech has lost all confidence. Despite his thunderbolt, Alex was pulled out of position every time they attacked. People say Terry ain't the same player without Carvalho by his side. It is in fact the other way round. He looked poor. Cole once again didn't seem to put a foot right. Ivanovic looked like a central defender being made to play right-back (and what was he doing to concede that penalty?) Once again Ballack did not step up to the mark. Malouda back to his old self. Kalou frankly embarrassing. Anelka once again showed no urgency or passion (I bet he shows passion when playing PES on his playstation on his huge 60 inch screen at home). Even The Bison didn't seem sure what to do with no Gerrard to take care of.

But worst of all, our attitude as we stepped out on to the pitch was appalling. I think that these are all indications of the inner turmoil at the club, characterized by the never ending saga regarding managers.

One possibility springs to mind. After the Anfield game I could not have been more delighted. Hiddink found the old Mourinho spirit in the side. We were back. All the players could feel it. Finally they were playing under a man who every player respects. And they made that clear. The future was rosy. They all want and expect Guus to stay. Some semblance of continuity could return. Then they are told that Guus will not be staying and nor will Jose be returning and worst of all, the man that none of them want, Ancelotti is the man to lead them next season. Spirit destroyed once again. We concede three goals in 9 minutes against Bolton because our attitude isn't right. We concede 4 goals against Liverpool becuase we are just not on it. That's seven goals in two home games.

For Christ's sake, the powers at be at the club have no idea about man management. Couldn't they at least have let the players think that Guus would stay or at the very least keep schtum and not let them know that he won't be. And as for Ancelotti...

I fear for the Barca game. Even with all of our boys on top form it'll take one helluva performance to get past them. If we are 1% lacking then we will be trounced. Hiddink has his work cut out. And between now and then, please can the board keep their mouth shut and save all the talk of new managers and next season for, er..next season. Let the players concentrate on this one.

(Incidentally as I write this I am having to yet again hear endless coverage of the 20 year anniversary of Hillsborough. Whilst I have every sympathy for those who lost loved ones, was there blanket coverage of the twentieth anniversary of the 39 people who died at Hysel? But I guess that's a point for another thread...)

Blue Sun Tzu,

Didn't you see us score 4 goals? You only put the other side of that game in your post. The otherside was how well we took our brilliant goals! Any emotions on that?

I have to agree with you on Bruce Buck's timing on the information he spilled. He told many players will go, many will come. Hiddink definately won't stay, Jose won't come. The biggest 'downer' surely is the information about bringing in Ancelotti. Ancelotti for crying out loud. Another coach who never stepped out of the borders of Italy and I'm sure he can't speak English, not as well as needed anyways. WHY???

i would take what buck says with a pinch of salt to be honest...he has no influence at board level, roman calls the shots...the hiddink soap opera isn't over yet...as for players coming and going....that's common sense...happens every year after all

I think Guus has managed to bond the team and create a bit of spirit among the group that was severly lacking under Scolari, but what we haven't managed to do is harness the winning attitude we had under Jose.

We seem together in spells during games, but not for the 90 minutes and lapses in concentration could still cost us dearly this season.

A word Jose used alot was FOCUS - something we just don't seem to do for the whole 90 minutes.

We weren't lacking in spirit or character last night, just a winning killer instinct

Never been so nervous in my life.

When they went 0-2, I was shaking and constantly shouting "NO NO NO!" whenever they got within 40 yards of our goal.

When they went 3-4, I was SCREAMING "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!" everytime they had the ball.

Then up pops Lampard to score the 4th and all was calm again :D

Talk about a rollercoaster ride. Possibly one of the greatest games of football I've ever seen. Absolutely amazing.

BUt you still have to remember, they were NEVER in front in the tie, and they were never in the position of going through once we had equalised up at their rathole last week.

But it was a bit tense!

This was me exactly! I thought I was gonna cry when they got their penalty! I couldn't keep still and walked around until they scored. And when Frank scored the 4th - well! I think my family were deafened! And I'd felt sick all day!

Just so we're not being biased or anything...the latest reactions from Liverpool 'fans' on RAWK:

from terry to cole to bosingwa to lampard to cole to malouda (thank god we didn't buy him) to Dropba and dispise them. Dropba is one of the few players where it would make me geniune happy to see him brake a leg. i really hope he pisses off to italy. hopefully some nazis will beat him up there as well.
great post. one thing i'd add is that the odd cheat has come to the club like diouf but the difference with our club is that the fans dont take to them and they move on soon after.

^ Isn't Stevie G still the messiah?

And out of them all, the worst post I've seen there yet...bringing Hillsborough into a footballing context on today of all days.

Chelsea supporters are to be pitied. They’ll always be trash, because they’ll always be fed trash. They’ll never know what it’s like to be moved to tears by a team who lost the battle and the war, yet whose effort and honesty was truly humbling. They’ll never know what it’s like to feel like a f**king ant as you look at 96 names and feel nothing but empathy and strength, inspired by the struggle of great people for justice, and the courage and dignity they display every single day of their lives.

And the Thommo and Jimmy clip is brilliant. I don't know why Thommo is still employed by Sky...he really is pathetic.

I refused to watch any replay or highlight of the match yesterday, even knowing the result, it still sent chill to my spine knowing how close it was to the biggest disaster in history. I had a smile when I saw Lucas in Liverpool team, the guy is useless even in his own supprters eyes, yet even he managed to score a goal. I think we were caught in 2 minds in the first half, Jose's words of 'parking the bus' must be ringing at players' ears. I had the feeling the refree will have a big say in the match, not surprised at all he decided to make the headline by awarding the penalty. Glad it's all over, hope Roman had fun, and ready to pull out his wallet again.

Kalou embarrasing?! Hardly. Ineffective, yes, hence the subbing for Anelka.

Anelka disinterested?! So I suppose his two vital assists for the 1st and last goals showed disinterest??? The 1st assist was the sublime cross done at full pace just before the byline; in the 2nd he managed to jump to his feet in a split second from next to the touch line (after being felled) and immeditely race over towards the box, intercept the ball being dribbled by Drogs and square it to Frank for Frank to score our last goal that put the filth out of their misery. Quite apart from the above he tracked back at all times to defend with Ivanovic. Frankly, about as good as a performance as I've seen him make for quite some time.

Ballack useless? Well there was the intercept of Alonso's pass and then the sublime diagonal pass for Drogs to pick up to square for Frank for the 3rd goal & he did defend well all night to name but a few of the tings he did.

I guess some are just never satisfied are they....

Don't see why people love that youtube clip so much.

For me it just shows Big Nose being the complete, unprofessional tosser he always is. You want Jimmy to give as good as he gets, but (credit to him I suppose) he actually remains professional, so Big Nose never gets his comeuppance. And then to make matters worse, Jimmy then bangs on about how L*verpool were the better team!

Where's your bias Jimmy?

Rubbish clip.

Rubbish clip.

Your having a laugh. Did you not see the relief on Jimmy's face when Lamps got the 4th, or the dissapointment when liverpool scored to make it 4-3. He didn't have to do his screaming and shouting like big nose, he must have got to him somehow (maybe sitting there and looking smug knowing we were going to be alright in the end).

I thought at the end Jimmy wasn't far wrong on his assesment of the game. I felt Liverpool were the better team on the night too, but we won the whole tie so couldn't give a flying f***.

Well obviously clearly he was pro-Chelsea, that was never in doubt, but I did want to see him give Big Nose a proper going over after the latter had been acting like such a pr*ck. Normally I would applaud taking the moral highground, but in this case having seen big Nose stand up and point at Jimmy with glee when they scored, I kinda wanted a similarly gloating reaction.

All I was saying is that is was hardly the youtube gem I thought it would be, that's all.

thats the difference between Liverpool fan and a Chelsea fan

the difference being chelsea fans have class. even their manager made an arse of himself at the final whistle, the classless little monkey knacker.
