Posted April 8, 200916 yr Totally immense performance from Ivanovic, we MUST NOT let this guy leave !!!!
April 8, 200916 yr he's lightening quick as well... shades of gallas in him Now go to the sink, wash your mouth out, write "GALLAS IS A TWAT" 20 times in your notebook, then go to the corner of the room and feel ashamed.
April 8, 200916 yr Now go to the sink, wash your mouth out Shouldn't that be "wash your hands"...? Unless Barak types with his tongue... :D
April 8, 200916 yr No. We are going to give it to Michael Essien! Absolutely fantastic performance from our Bison and its no doubt in my mind that he deserves it. Great game by Ivanovic to with two very important goals but Essien still gets it for me. I actually think im in love with that guy!
April 8, 200916 yr I'm sorry Coombsie, but as well as Ivanovich played, what game were you watching? There was only candidate for MOTM and that is Michael Essien.
April 8, 200916 yr Ivanovic was clearly the man of the match... ...if Essien didn't play. Essien was just damn f**king brilliant. No way to describe how amazing that guy played without swearing. He was a damn workhorse, and did it with a smile throughout. Jesus. Where does he get his engine from! Edited April 8, 200916 yr by Zola's Love Child
April 8, 200916 yr I agree Essien was bloody great, but FFS people. He put Gerrard in his pocket alright, but was nonexistent in attack. Now that he should have been, it wasn't his job But at the end of the day goals is what matters and Ivanovic scored two fantastic and vastly important goals at the right time and against a notoriously hard-to-beat opposition AWAY. On top of that, he himself put a Scum player in his pocket - Riera who ?
April 8, 200916 yr I agree Essien was bloody great, but FFS people. He put Gerrard in his pocket alright, but was nonexistent in attack. Now that he should have been, it wasn't his job It wasn't his specific job to make he running up front but it was largely because of his performnace that the players charged with being more creative actuially got the space and time to do it. I still think ivanovic was MOTM and I don't think it purely because of his two goals. I thought he was fantastic at right back and I wouldn't let Bosingwa near the first team again as long as Ivanovic maintains that kind of form.
April 9, 200916 yr Just back from Anfield. I cant decide between Essien and Ivanovich... I have to say that the headers were superb, I have read on the internet that the marking (zonal) was poor.. Just watching them back, he had enough round him and he just picked out headers, unbelievable.. lets hope we can play him more often. Like is attitude also. Essien was immesnse, so was lamps, so was ballack. Like to give a shout for two other things Not seen it back ont he tV yet but considering the hard time we have given them all year. the move Ballack, Malouda, Drogba just made the hairs on our neck stand up... Brilliant football of the highest quality. Also... the crowd...How did it come through on the tv ?

Brilliant football of the highest quality. Also... the crowd...How did it come through on the tv ? I wouldn't want to take credit for defending Ivanovic in the past. He always did a decent job whatever he was given the opportunity and last night's double proved that a new defender has arrived on Chelsea's greats. Perhaps he can move on and be cemented among the luminaries of JT and Desailly. This match was an absolute cracker and Chelsea's best performance of the season after twice being humbled by the Kops in the league under that inept Scolari. Hey... it's payback time to make up for a goal in each of the 3 meetings against the Scousers. Liverpool did not play entirely too badly with brilliant moves from Torres, Kuyt and Gerrard, so please don't rob Chelsea of a great victory which equalled Liverpool's heaviest home defeat in European competition since their 1-3 defeat to Barca in 2001 and their last Anfield defeat stretched more than a year to Barnsley on Feb 16, 2008 in an FA Cup. Even so, Liverpool has never lost in the Premiership at home since Dec 16, 2007 0-1 loss to Manure. Surely, this great victory will rank in recent memory along that famous Mourinho's 4-1 victory. I take my hats off.. Kalou and Malouda are improving even though I still would like Malouda sold to fund for Zhirkov. Essien was the key to the engine room as he ran off Gerrard and did the Makelele role in the orchestration of raids. I would now put on the record. Whoever wins this tie will surely go on to claim the Champion's league. Now where's the trotter to feast with ale?
April 9, 200916 yr I cant say who was better but its a sign of the times that we are arguing over who played the most flawless game rather than using phrases like 'was the only one trying out there' or 'were the only ones who looked bothered'. Either or, I hope both of these fellas are going to be seen in royal blue for a long, long time to come
April 9, 200916 yr Ha, ha, really happy to see Ivanovic being given a chance at right back, and him taking it, even if it may be due to Bosingwa's injury. I always felt he would be more dependable. And goals? My goodness, having an extra threat at set pieces will always be a welcome weapon. BUT...there was only one MoM candidate for me and that was Essien. What an immense performance in snuffing out Gerrard, and thus pretty much Torres as well. That was Hiddink's master stroke for the game and it worked wonders. C'mon, how many of you were expecting Gerrard to be this quiet? Liverpool didn't know how to get going. Cheers, Butch
April 9, 200916 yr I still think ivanovic was MOTM and I don't think it purely because of his two goals. I thought he was fantastic at right back and I wouldn't let Bosingwa near the first team again as long as Ivanovic maintains that kind of form. 2nd'd showed just as much going forward and is 10x better defensively why the hell hasn't he got a chance before ;)

I didn't mean it as a swipe on Essien, just that you can hardly override a complete - in every aspect of the game- performance from Ivanovic in favour of an excellent defensive display from the Bison.
April 9, 200916 yr Also... the crowd...How did it come through on the tv ? F*cking superb. 'Were going to Rome, we're going to Ro O Ome, F*ck you're Istory - were going to Rome' 'Where's your famous atmosphere....where's your famous atmosphere?' Were amonng my favourites :D Well done - every single one of you!!!!!! Our vocal support made it even more special for those who couldn't get up there and had to watch on TV. Sounded Great!
April 9, 200916 yr 'Were going to Rome, we're going to Ro O Ome,F*ck you're Istory - were going to Rome' 'Where's your famous atmosphere....where's your famous atmosphere?' Those were the main chants, along with the usual, "Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league" , that just reminded me "Have you seen Garrard win the ball" to the same tune, but didnt take off massively but got a laugh. and of course, "in your liverpool slums..."

Well done mate - it was one of those nights when you just wished you were there. If we nick one early in the next tie, we've got 90 mins of absolutey ripping the sh*t out of 'em - which'll be nice
