  1. Well, my intractable transcontinental associate, I respect your righteousness but will continue looking for the post that causes you to reconsider something, anything.
  2. I see your point about Terry. But with just one Green thumb preventing 2 clean sheets, I'll disagree with your opinion of the English defense in general.
  3. I dozed off there for a while. England's defense was good to very good again, but the front 6 just plain sucked. I'm not sure what the answer is, perhaps more Millner and Bent, and less Lennon and Heskey. Only a win will get England through. How to get through: Slovenia - Win; Draw; Lose with US loss or draw. 88% of possible results. USA - Win; Draw with England loss or draw. 55% England - Win. 33% Algeria - Win with England loss or draw. 22% I'll stay positive and predict England and US win and both get through. Hope it happens.
  4. That wasn't the worst officiating I've ever seen, but the call of a US foul did ruin the best US goal scoring moment I can remember. Stupid Malisian idiot. Never thought I'd say that. US coach Bob Bradley said "outcome" like out-comb plus a hint of scouse, and Donovan said he "was gutted". Maybe our squads are hanging out together. Come on England, get the win and tie Slovenia at the top of group C. Tanshirts to destroy the Numidians. Good luck the the new CB (Upson?), Ash and JT to dominate, James between the pipes, show some Joe and Gareth, 4-0 England.
  5. At least Robert Green's gloves will be tacky. This probably wouldn't be so amusing to me if it was the US side basted in South African butt sludge.
  6. If England's defense is not leaky and wasteful, they should be solid in their treatment of Algeria. Number two can be more fluid running down the right side. But if they push too hard, the passing will suffer. Expect Rooney and Gerrard to be very offensive, especially late in the match. Bent or Crouch might get a crack at some loose balls.
  7. from http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/news/sewage-spill-lays-waste-to-england-s-uniforms--fbintl_ro-englandlaundry061510.htmlWhat has 46 legs and flies? The Three Lions! English footballers are now both affluent and effluent. When Tim W called the US side "septic", he set this in motion. All his fault because he made me do this with my mind. Blimey, not sure I'm keen on the light brown kit.
  8. I'd say if they don't make it back, the dippers are dapped.
  9. Since the late 70's. The fox has been in the henhouse awhile...
  10. I understand that you were unimpressed by the US side, and we merely achieved a goal that was set very low. But had Altidore's late shot (that beat Green) not gone off the post, you'd be sitting on zero with Algeria. That would be one bitter lozenge.
  11. Not fair in the sense that Altidore and Dempsey were attacking well. Donovan is just not imposing enough for World Cup, I'd play him out wide in the midfield. It seems as though the US doesn't respect the role of a holding midfielder. We did our best up front, but England's defense was tremendous. Capello should have heeded the keeper option from any of the astute posters on this thread. I see the R. Green has said that he "will move on". What's the alternative? Harikari? Hope all the Yanks here enjoyed themselves, I know that I did. Best wishes to the Three Lions going forward, now we can now enjoy Frank, Ash and JT for awhile. I expect our respective sides to battle for the goal differential to settle Group C.
  12. I'll be pulling for the English side from here on.
  13. You should, because what you follow with is conjecture and inaccuracy. Please just one detail to validate that first part? No fact is ever a conditional leading to speculation. Where's that French Scottish English teacher? What you have here is an educated guess. And probably wrong because if these "other factors" are removed, abolition would still arrive eventually and bring war with it. The big push for abolition began within Lincoln's campaign for President in 1860. When he was elected, the South seceded, even before he was sworn in. That is an ideology by a visionary and it cost him his life, not an insider play by Washington DC. All factual and directly contradictory to your conspiracy theory. So the US' part in the liberation of Europe was for the US' gain. I go for conspiracy theories, just not these revisions. United States 2, England 2
  14. Nice job. Probably the owner. I don't see either of these sides making it through, but it was fun to watch Blanco having stayed around the game too long. El centro gordo, con no futura. Go Uruguay!
  15. Deep South am I, so I'll ride this off-topic rail. What I was taught in school down there was that the Confederacy was motivated by the trampling of state rights by the North. The same thing modern conservatives use regarding the establishment of rights for women, children, minorities, gays, etc. I'm quite offended, because it's just code for saying what can't be said - "I hate you, you're different". Give truth to the children! As for "gentleman's war", this oxymoron says to me that if they didn't start the war, they won't be victimized by war crimes. The same as a burglar being shot in the back. The desire to keep humans as slave laborers and chattel almost ended our great Union, and I can't feel much for the proponents. Halftime is almost over. And now I can't go to my class reunion...
  16. Who knew that guy shot so much smack? Agree, it's a great movie.
  17. No doubt, Plokster, only 10 hours until the enchilada munchers set it off against the vuvuzela hornblowers. Go S. Africa! Probably going have to watch much of this Cup with the sound turned down and the Dropkick Murphys turned up. Best wishes to both countries up on the big stage.
  18. I believe that Kaka would agree that several and few are both 3.
  19. Two expensive players who CFC does not need to go forward. Best wishes, class individuals.
  20. My work occasionally asks me to address septic tanks, which are full of sheyite in the literal sense. I find them offensive, but necessary. The national term is totally cool to me. It was more the 5-0 scoreline than the other part. The idea that we are going to be rolled over by Peter Crouch and England's football dominance is more questionable than the contents of that tank, to a Yank. And why are both Tims joining on the same day, four years ago?
  21. Darn, it worked. I wonder did anyone else here do the field at bracketcontest.com 3 days to go, any more predictions?
  22. No, Tim means septics as in septic tanks, which rhymes with Yanks.
  23. Crap like that gets my Irish up. Such a dumb nickname, and from a poster I usually dig. Shake yourself. I accept that Fabio has the better squad. But with so much pressure on the Three Lions, Tim Dub is now set up nicely for Thunderous repercussions should we not go down quietly. Like a draw for instance, which is now my prediction for Saturday. The Yank will not tank. We will advance, walking without tails between our legs, just dongs and bollocks.
