  1. Many were duds, but "Me, Myself and Irene" was hilarious
  2. Extending the Bison's contract makes me all :D
  3. This is where Frank falls short. If you have to convince someone he's captain material, then he isn't.
  4. This only makes me laugh at where they are, and where they're headed.
  5. If I noticed that Nick Mason was absent, I would wonder why they call themselves Pink Floyd. Reproduction is easy
  6. Right you are Wicksy, but Roger can't really put those on since they are so dependent on the other three guys. Especially I didn't see Ummagumma or the More album (which is awesome). But all those early ones can't really be done without Syd. Roger always assembles a great band, very faithful to the music. We'll "feel the warm thrill of confusion" on 9/28 .
  7. I don't care much for celebrity gossip, but I will follow some celebrity crime. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20390543,00.html "Former child TV actor Gary Coleman and his wife were divorced in 2008, an attorney for the late "Diff'rent Strokes" star said Wednesday. Randy Kester told The Associated Press that Coleman and Shannon Price divorced in August 2008 and Coleman never told him the two had remarried." - AP Can your ex-wife have your life support pulled? Can a hospital be expected to know your marital status in an emergency? I'm not saying she killed him, but she seemed to resist aiding him, and then misrepresented herself to authorities. Sounds like a Hitchcock film, which one Stride? Bring on CSI...
  8. That is one of greatest avatars I've ever seen - guess that's why they call you Ace. If you post on: http://www.theshedend.com/index.php?showto...st&p=288459 I'm sure you'd score a 10. Astute choices in my mind, you and I are the only ones to start Feilhaber on June 12th. And here it looks like the English would rather ponder the American Revolution than the USA 23.
  9. The club was formed in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR F.C., the works team of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath. In 1892, they joined The Football League and became independent of the rail company, dropping the "LYR" from their name. - Wiki
  10. That's what you lot said in 1950, as well. :)
  11. I can't answer that one, Emer. But about time Fabio! Here's England's final 23 man roster: Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green. Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock. Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips. Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney. I lost a starter (Bent) and a sub (Walcott) from my projection, which is actually better than my US projection. Not surprising in the sense that I watch 10X more Premier League than MLS. This English squad is interesting in that, like Italy, the whole squad plays for domestic clubs. The US lads are from clubs all over the world (7 from the PL). How about the new US kit design, same as they sported in 1950. Cheeky move, and I like it very much.
  12. "When you hang a man, you better look at him." - Hang 'Em High ThunderDan's Best of Eastwood 1.) The Outlaw Josey Wales - The only thing better to see than this is CFC taking six points from ManU. 2.) High Plains Drifter 3.) The Unforgiven 4.) The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 5.) Pale Rider 6.) For a Few Dollars More 7.) A Fistful of Dollars 8.) Gran Torino 9.) Two Mules for Sister Sara 10.) Million Dollar Baby 11.) White Hunter, Black Heart . . . . 57.) Every Which Way But Loose 58.) 13. Yeah, Randy36! Our projected England lineups are only different in 2 places. I've been wondering if I was the only person here who thinks Capello will go for James in goal. I will miss McBride as well. You could fracture his face, and he'd still go up strong. The consolation for me is that Buddle and Altidore are both taller than McBride, and the same height as Ching (6'1"). Findlay and Gomez are both about 5'10", Rooney-sized. My biggest concerns are Howard in goal, who seems to place himself well, only to allow shots to go through his hands; and Onyewu at CB, who doesn't look fit or healthy (knee injury). The stout back five at Chelsea have completely spoiled me. Just 2 more weeks! :D
  14. Here's the USA roster, after final cutdowns: GOALKEEPERS Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, Marcus Hahnemann. DEFENDERS Carlos Bocanegra, Oguchi Onyewu, Jay DeMerit, Jonathan Spector, Jonathan Bornstein, Cherundolo, Clarence Goodson. MIDFIELDERS Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Stuart Holden, Michael Bradley, Ricardo Clark, Maurice Edu, Benny Feilhaber, Beasley and Jose Francisco Torres. FORWARDS Jozy Altidore, Buddle, Gomez and Findley. I lost Johnson and Conrad (and all 3 subs) from my projected team. Big Izz lost Brian Ching. USA didn't look so good last night against the Czech Republic, who won 3-2, but it was fun to see Cech who played great as usual. And we had so many reserves that it's hard to complain about anything I saw. Except Onyewu, my favorite player on the squad, who looks like he needs more rehab on his knee. No word on England's final 23 yet, should come about anytime...
  15. I don't ever wan't to see that crazy barrister Gattuso with us, DD is mental enough. Nor Maschrano, but Cambiasso would do.
  16. Not a bad setup here, knockout phase only. Note the picks are irreversible once entered. I have England bowing out in the semis to Brazil, USA losing to Germany in the round of 16. Italy over Brazil in the final.
  17. I didn't want to seem condescending, Barry, I know you're a smart guy. And a champion too! Those guys holding hands felt inequality, and the knot on your head says that meant something powerful to you. Why do you feel so much for that kind of victim, but not the racial victim? You and I will probably never know this, but I'm appalled every time. Maybe mix in some more compassion. Note: I am not a licensed Therapist, but I am a Champion.
  18. Barry, I'll take a shot at this. When a black man uses that word to another black man, there's some kinship and an understanding that "we're in this struggle together". When a white man uses it to a black man, the weight of history and the white man's claim to supremacy is plain to hear and feel to the recipient. No kinship, no sense of equality. I would be offended if someone subjugated me based only on how I was born.
  19. It's true that far too many Americans take nationalism to an extreme. God, Guns and Country. Love it or Leave it. When folks have their flags taken down (usually for zoning rules, i.e. too big, encroachment, etc.), it never fails to cause a big stir. In some places you could get shot at, Texas and Idaho come to mind, but most places you'd just get threatened to be shot. And it always raises people's blood pressure. To me, the main problem is the belief that here we enjoy unique, complete freedom, and that this freedom is being taken away piece by piece. I ask conservative nationalist types to name a personal freedom we enjoy here that people in France don't, and I've never gotten a reasonable answer (but plenty of outrage). Since there aren't enough of them to use votes, they use firearms to make their case. The newest trend is concealed weapon permits, to keep order. I admire England for its gun control. Scott (mad_mac) may not have many murders in Washington state, but we have them almost daily here in Cleveland, and they're not using knives or rope. I'm usually in agreement with Loz, and he's spot on here as well. I would be just as proud to be Canadian or Mexican, and it's only by chance that I'm not.
  20. Here's a site to make selections for cash prizes, free to play. http://www.bracketcontest.com/world_cup_co...010_contest.php
  21. This looks like something from a personal nightmare - "Dan, we need you to go in and hit 15 extra high field goals in order for us to win the game." Thanks to you guys for taking a very cool thread and ramping it up today to exceptional. Open your mind, Yorkley...
  22. He probably wishes that match never took place, Scott. Missed the pen, lost the match, got no bonus, got relegated and now must face an angry squad of Germans. Might be needing some extra leg gear. Screw him...
  23. If this discussion revolved around "Should Ashley Cole's salary be suspended while he competes for England?", the conversation would surely be steered in a different direction. Good point Loz regarding trump cards. Seems the best situation is having most of your squad competing for their home countries in South Africa. Also, I can understand why Canadiens might take a dimmer view of this World Cup than Ivoiriens.
  24. C'mon Beamer, that is one great album cover supplied by PloKoon13. Make mine jumbo! Some minimalism:
