bluegraham Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 rio out off world cup, micheal dawson is on hes way to africa. worst thing here is gerrard will be captian of england what a joke
PloKoon13 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I can't support England if Gerrard is captain. The thought of footage of him lifting the trophy playing constantly for the next 50 years is more than I can deal with.
Randy36 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I'll always support England irrespective of who's captain!
Maksimov Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I can't support England if Gerrard is captain. The thought of footage of him lifting the trophy playing constantly for the next 50 years is more than I can deal with. Don't worry...I doubt England will play in the final, let alone win it.
BLUENUT Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 rio out off world cup, micheal dawson is on hes way to africa. worst thing here is gerrard will be captian of england what a joke The armband if f*cking cursed - I hope Gerrard get's it!
Tim Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 So...not good news, but only because Rio's had a good partnership with JT in the past. Both King and Dawson and Upson have had 'better' seasons that Mr. Merc for a variety of reasons, the big question is who will play best with JT. Despite his Mexico shocker (which was alongside the out of form Rio, I must add) King is the best footballer of the three by a clear distance. So if he, in turn, can stay fit, I would hope he will step into the breach. I have omitted to mention Carragher for obvious reasons.
g3.7 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 ug. I'd say that is a pretty big blow. can king play every game? perhaps capello will have to rotate partners. italy won without nesta, but then materazzi in 2006 is probably a stronger option than anything we've got (as much as he's one of the worst people on the planet)... gerrard gets the armband but massive pressure on jt to show his leadership qualities now. if his head is right it need not be a fatal blow.
Randy36 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Perhaps Ferdinand's injury is a blessing in disguise. He has become injury prone over the last two seasons. I'm surprised Capello chose him as captain. He became the weak link in the England squad. The alternatives are King, Dawson, Carragher and Upson to replace him. King would be my choice to partner John Terry.
coco Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 who is likely to replace him? Carragher, King, Upson? Dawson ?
BlueBeard Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I can't support England if Gerrard is captain. The thought of footage of him lifting the trophy playing constantly for the next 50 years is more than I can deal with. I wouldn't worry, Plokkers, I doubt England will even qualify from their group - especially with that c*nt as captain!
geezer Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I think Englands chances have imprved somewhat. Ferdinand was becoming a liability when you look at his recent international performances.
Virosh Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 (edited) So if Gerrard gets suspended, sent off or injured who takes the armband ? Edited June 4, 2010 by Virosh
Maksimov Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 So if Gerrard gets suspended, sent off or injured who takes the armband ? Probably Rooney...
evissy Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Is there no chance Terry wears it again? I would go for Rooney now that Ferdinand is out..Although I don't really care to be honest.
Zola's Love Child Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Not the worst thing in the world, as long as that doesn't mean that Carragher takes the spot...I worry about a CB pairing of Terry and Carragher (and King for that matter). For me its either Dawson (unlikely) or Upson to partner JT. There are too many miles and injuries on JT and Carragher's bodies to have them both playing, would rather see someone 'fresher'.
loz Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I think the back four will be Ashley Cole, JT, King and the right back position will go to Carragher at first and then to Johnson once Barry is fit and once wew are in the knock out stages (if we get there!)
sleepy_gonzalez Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Rio out: not the end of the world Dawson in: probably should have been in over carragher in the first place. Capello in his infinite wisdom is bound to pick Carra. Gerrard as captain: bleeeeeuuuuurghhhhhhhh :) :) ahem... sorry ... ahem.. Also, what chance does Super Frank have of being picked if Stevie GBH is a dead cert to start (as captain) and Barry turns out to be fit? 'Impact sub' is so far from doing Lamps justice the idea makes me want to.... oh hang on i'm just dry retching now Lamps should be a dead cert for captain. Better record for club and country, more team mates in the squad than Gerrard, isn't a prick..
Katon Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Lampard, Gerrard, and Barry have all been nailed-on starters when fit for a while now - Lampard & Barry in central midfield, Gerrard on the left. I also continue to stand by my opinion that Carragher's going along because Capello thinks he's a better backup RB than Gary Neville (which isn't exactly a high bar to clear). If he plays in central defence for any reason short of a squad-wide flu outbreak, I'll be very surprised.
bluegraham Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Capello was seen giving out orders while rio was still on the pitch, dont be fooled jt is still the leader of that team. shame he won't get the praise for it. one England captian
SydneyChelsea Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 f**k, England's odds will probably shorten now to take the title. England to reach the final.
ThunderDan Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 This is where Frank falls short. If you have to convince someone he's captain material, then he isn't.
