  1. considering it was probably already opened before the game even started id imagine it is... shame
  2. Get in there birmingham! Thats one for martins to tell his grandchildren about... when he gets home. Seriously though, Wenger is the reason they havn't won anything of late (fair enough he is also the reason they get close & play nice tippy tappy football) but as soon as he swallows his pride and actually goes against his usual transfer policy by buying a good, experienced goalkeeper/centre back then they wont win anything. Long may that trend continue!
  3. Great dive by Gerrard on the hour or so mark yet he held his hands up so nothing comes of it. Even got a compliment from Chris Coleman for 'holding his hand up' stilll a dive. But its gerrard i suppose and english players dont dive.
  4. Bit strange really considering he came up in a conversation the other day. Such a shame considering how young he was and condolences to his family. RIP
  5. He's been alright for me so far, but given the opportunity i would get rid of him at the drop of a hat, terrible player! playing for his career at the minute it seems...
  6. Was a cracking game, the commentator said that the average age of their side was 22! Im looking forward to watching them in the champions league next year, if they manage to hold on to grosskreutz, hummels, subotic, barrios and in particular Sahin who is very similar to Fabregas in my opinion then i think they will upset a fair few teams. Not to mention Kagawa but he's out for the rest of the season. Fair play to them, most of their players have come through the academy there and they are a really good team to watch. On another note, if Bayern do progress and we got them in the next round (if we go through ofcourse!) then as i said earlier we'd be more comfortable against them than inter in my opinion. Dortmund showed today that doubling up on Ribery & Robben as well as putting loads of pressure on Schweinsteiger pretty much nullifies their attacking threat and they looked a bit clueless after.
  7. Well done Sturridge, i hope we do keep faith in him and give him much more first team action when he returns. I also hope he's still willing to stay at Chelsea when his loan finishes too as he is proving so far that he is good enough to play in the premiership. Still learning though and im sure he will develop into a better player here with all the quality that is around him
  8. Yeah im a big fm player to be honest, spend far too much of my spare time on it! Used to have network games with my housemates at uni and they would be intense! I was once involved in a championship decider against my mate (he was man city i was liverpool) and i managed to snatch a 3-2 win in the last minute of the game (a draw would have won him the league) and the chaos that ensued would be too embarrasing to associate with a computer game so i wont mention it... i will say that a real life mini trophy was involved along with a fake press conference.
  9. Ended up having a bit of a slump after my last post so im guessing the manager of the month awards really are cursed! here's my results so far: need to sort out my away form really as my home form is pretty good. Did manage to get a result at ipswich though who are top of the league. Sitting in 6th at the moment and Bruma, McIndoe and Eastwood are on their way back from injury. Still havn't figured out my best XI yet which is probably why i've been so inconsistent, but playing a nice 4-2-3-1 which has been working well so far. Went for mid-table finish but reckon i might finish just outside the playoffs, if i sort my away form out then probably higher. Kakuta's been dissapointing so far though...
  10. Started this earlier and had a pretty good start so far. Looks like ive gone down a similar route to everyone else and gone for lots of loan signings.. Van Anholt & Coleman are immense by the way! Kakuta sadly got injured and is out for a while and so is Marlon King. Results so far have been: Watford (h) W3-0 Bournemouth (a) LC W3-1 Palace (a) W2-0 Freddy Eastwood has been really good so far and so has McIndoe... might get promoted at this rate!
  11. Rab Douglas and the phrase goalkeeping legend go hand in hand... shame he was sh*t! and i mean terrible.. Im surprised I hadnt conceded less to be honest considering I had Ross Turnbull in goal! Never manages to inspire confidence for some reason
  12. Considering the kind of league he has come from he's settled remarkably quickly... remember the first few times he played and looked a bit out of his depth it was a bit unfair all the criticism he got. Been massively underrated by the media as well who just seem interested on the fact torres hasnt scored yet.
  13. Id agree Bayern look much more vulnerable and theyre not exactly setting the Bundesliga on fire at the moment (mainly down to how good Dortmund have been- we should look at Kagawa or grosskreutz by the way) and they have been a bit calamitous at the back on occasions
  14. With anelka starting i believe our link up play between the midfield and attack would be a bit more fluent and i reckon starting that way would be the best option. looking back to last season when we played them at old trafford we saw that when drogba comes off the bench it gives us a different option and when united will be chasing the game (which they hopefully will) bringing on drogba would be perfect to play them on the counter attack and like last season grab another goal. Still think Lampard should start, he is improving and i trust him more with the ball than any others looking to play in the centre. Ramires has to start so his work rate can cancel out fletchers and hopefully gibson does start for them as opposed to scholes because he is sh*t. Think we've got a good chance with this one now (despite worrying about it before) and i think Torres might grab his first goal for us. He's been improving every game and we all know what he's done to Vidic in the past.
  15. just finished my first season and got to the champions league final, the most ridiculous game i think ive ever had on fm! needless to say i put something in the half time oranges ps: that rounded off a sweet sweet quadruple
  16. How can he be writing for a newspaper? Actually makes my blood boil the utter bollocks hes just put there. what an absolute c**t
  17. A person only knows themselves how much of a fan they are in my opinion. For instance the last 6-7 years have been extremely rosy for our club, they have been vastly succesful and for us fans they've been great. And sure that success has probably brought in a few more fans as it would with any other team who win regularly. What defines a real fan for me however is whether or not that person has the bottle to stick with the club through thick and thin, win or lose. Sure i wasnt alive to see us play in the lower divisions but id still have supported them as much as i do now. If we became a pretty crap team again- like we were when i first started supporting chelsea, in say 5 or 6 years, then id still be as passionate about the club as i am now and as i was before but i know for a fact that there would be people out there who would give up and not bother, and they wouldnt be real fan at all in my eyes.
  18. Its extremely hard to find any objective piece of journalism regarding Chelsea. Most articles i tend to read always have some form of thinly veiled attack over money/history. Its boring hearing the same drivel that gets spouted out by muppet fans of other clubs being repeated in the newspapers. I cant even begin to imagine what listening to 606 would have been like after the game i think i would have been ready to murder someone after the 69th call from either our terry, our barry or our gary in liverpool talking about how that torres lad eez joined a sinking ship laa or something like that.
  19. My guess is because mikel tends to play the ball from side to side and when essien came on he was looking for more direct forward passes, so in theory it was an attacking substitute from carlo. Quick question: When we first signed Malouda wasnt he a winger?? - If so then why the hell is he playing so central nowadays, its ridiculous, him Lampard Anelka/Kalou/whoever starts just get in each others way high up the pitch.
  20. Will be purchasing fm11 on monday so ill get involved then... should be an interesting first game!
  21. A few weeks ago we were talking about how the 2 games against united that are coming up can get us right back in the title race... its strange how things can change in football isnt it? Im worried now that theyre going to be a huge burden on us even making the top 4
  22. Im with you as well mate to be honest. Its like theyre waiting for him to be sacked and cant be arsed. Seems to me some of them have the attitude of "oh well he'll get sacked soon anyway so it doesnt really matter", which is why we really need stability. The players cant walk around expecting him to be sacked on the back of a few bad results as has happened in the past. Theyve got to take a look at themselves and earn the right to wear the shirt. I would kill to play for Chelsea and it seems that a few players out there at the moment cannot be bothered and it upsets me. Theyre supposed to be some of the best players in the world, they havnt lost it
  23. This penalty loss is almost as difficult to stomach as that one against charlton a few years ago when we had robert huth to thank. Now its Anelka... seriously though until the last minute of the game i didnt care that we played poorly AGAIN i was just happy that we were going to go through to the next round and still be in with a good shout to win the thing. Now we're out of another trophy and have no chance of retaining anything we won last year. The way we played today it seems as though we dont want to win another trophy as it was another lethargic half arsed lumbering performance with no quality the players just turned up and ran around for 120 minutes. Like i said in chat earlier, defensively we are still a double winning side (barring silly foul) its just our midfield and forwards are playing with all the effectiveness of grimsby- and that might be insulting to them. Someone really needs to take responsibility out there and start grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and play with a bit of fire, run at people, take them on, and inspire the rest of the team. We look scared. Im hoping that its just everyone had an eye on the copenhagen game and (im hoping) thats why we didnt really seem to be with it today, however im thinking its more that we are just really short of form (which is obvious) and confidence at the moment- and when things are going against you as a player you panic and try too hard doing the wrong things... Still.... onwards and upwards! We're still in Europe!
  24. Could u draft up a post about us having no chance of winning the champions league and coming in the top 4 please?
