  1. I think we are both saying the same thing. Yes you have to name 3 keepers the option is to name the third on your b list
  2. The squad requirements for the PL and CL are significant different. In terms of GKs technically for the PL you could get away with not naming any in your squad , that is over 21 year olds but when it comes to the CL you are required to have a minimum of 2 on the A list and you are afforded the option to include the 3rd on your B list. That is what is happening this season and to be fair it’s very very rare that the 3rd choice keeper ever gets to play. UEFas requirements around our A list were the subject of much debate and what is now clear some , no most, journalists clearly interpreted the sanction incorrectly. I was banging the drum saying that transferring a player onto the list didn’t mean that there had to be a positive transfer fee balance indeed as it has now been proven what was required was to ensure that the costs of the players being put on the new list ( amortisation + wages+ agents fees) added together didn’t exceed the players taken off. As I pointed out in our debate how people were adamant that a player had to leave the club wasn’t what the sanction agreement said it just talked about “ new players” on the list for season 25/6&26/27
  3. I suspect when the loan was agreed the plan was for him to be in the squad and almost certainly he would have been but once Guiu was recalled he had to take one of the 17 non club trained or HG players. Diaps injury changed a lot of things and I suspect the CL squad was another consequence
  4. Had Sterling been included or Disassi come to that then one of the players on the A list would I believe have to been removed. Actually it’s quite possible that the cost of either of the two players I mention it possibly would mean to match costs then more than one would have to be removed
  5. So after all the wind ups, all the claims, all the interpretations our CL Squad has been handed in. It seems all the newbies that are at the club are on the list save 1. The loanee from Brighton It’s actually quite amazing because the journalist I have just read has passed comment on the squad and said the omission had to be due to cost. It could be but the most likely explanation is that we had used up all the spots available to non club trained players in the squad. It showed lack of understanding even more because they suggested that Colwill who is listed could have been left out and replaced with another player and they suggest that player could be, yes the lad from Brighton. Colwill could be replaced but it could only be by naming a HG and club trained players.
  6. Did I miss something?
  7. As I said in another thread can’t quite work out what’s going on but what it does mean that there is now one international loan spot free. It’s well publicised that both the Saudi and Turkish windows are still open but as at 20.12 the Dutch window is still open for another 3 or so hours and the Portuguese one is open for quite a few days yet. So who is going on load or being sold. George, Disassi, Sterling , Washington or someone else ?
  8. Well part of its correct ( the based on 3 year cycle bit ) but after that you are wrong.
  9. It is and when you consider we are getting a player from Kairat next season who is 17 and their star player that tells a major story
  10. Did you see the Washington loan to Santos has been cancelled? Watch him come back which he is and sold to a Saudi / Turkish club in the next few days. If that doesn’t happen then unless there are plans for him to be in the squad, which I doubt, then there was no point recalling him
  11. The Turkish and Saudi windows are still open. There is no chance going to any of the other countries at this point in time. To be honest he is a very rich man already but 2 years in Saudi would likely make what he gets from us seem poverty wages
  12. Not just his salary which would almost certainly be less than the sum still due under the contract but not by much , and yes it’s back to the magic issue of depreciation. Normally it would be amortisation but if we saw Sterlings contract ended with it all the residue sum of his fee which is currently £20m ish would have to be “ impaired ( there’s another great word) meaning the 26/7 amortisation will be advanced into 25/6
  13. Watch him go to Turkey
  14. Morning. It’s actually quite surprising the high profile players that have been caught . Save Pogaba who managed to appeal his ban down, none have really been hit that hard hence why I suggest his ban will be between 12&24 months bearing in mind he is already close to 10 months into his suspension and the fact that he won’t be in the PL &UEFA squads based on what we know if the club clued him in the PL list then my guess would be that the IC has been concluded We almost certainly will be getting sight eventually of those IC written reasons and it will be interesting to get a handle on the levels indeed that could well tell a story in itself as will details, if they are published, of his previous tests and dare I suggest subsequent tests. Meldonium, which was the banned substance found in his sample, like all medications will be in any sample for a period of time after the last dose as it were. There are reports that some studies have found it evident in meat and cows milk and in support of that study another confirmed it can be introduced and will show up via milk. My reading of all this is that the tests weren’t carried out in the UK. There was a suggestion at one time the test was compromised. That’s a classic defence and to be fair seems to be well argued by rich footballers legal teams. GiveMeSportThe 12 biggest doping scandals in football history as Gab...Gabigol now joins a notable list of footballers to have broken the rules 😬
  15. Not saying it will happen but the window in the Saudi League remains open till 10/9 and Turkey 12/9. From what I can see it’s two left sort out Sterling and Disassi ( have I missed anyone) with Fofana DD seemingly off to Celtic
  16. When I first picked up on press reports that the move to Strasbourg was indeed on the cards the suggestion was that initially it had been considered that the remaining two years would be bought out but the latest thinking was it would involve a fee. My guess , and it’s only that if there is indeed a fee it would be £8 million ish. That’s the roughly the sum of his original transfer fee that remains on the books. I would hope that his contract one way or the other is paid in full . Anything is possible but the two year contract at Strasbourg could match the one he currently is on but of course all this is speculation. Irrespective best wishes Ben hope you enjoy France and of course the football
  17. That’s why I got married ! Edited incase your fiancé reads over your shoulder
  18. The fact is that football clubs have no choice but to be run as a business. and just as in the outside business world where owners run their companies in differing ways so football clubs are run in different ways. Is there a perfect model ? It is indeed an indictment of modern football but what’s the alternative declare UDI ? The simply reality is without factoring in things like transfer income etc then you can’t in reality get a true perspective of modern day football. If finances didn’t matter why is there so much concern about commercial deals? I am not an “ new era fan” indeed I would guess I was watching way before many on here were even born and as you know I take close interest in the financial side of football . Of course we all know that there are issues within the squad that need addressing but save Liverpool and Arsenal I would guess most clubs supporters will see glaring issues in their squads. Bet your glad I am posting again !!!!!
  19. My thoughts were more Emgeha.
  20. I wonder that too. A couple of smaller deals have gone under the radar including Matos to Sheff Utd for a rumoured £10 million. A couple of other bits and pieces still to do including Disassi, Sterling and Chilwell but what this has massively done is reduce the overall squad ratio.
  21. Think you have misread this one. The fact that it was put out there that the deal would still be on but Bayern would have to either buy outright in this window or turn the option into an obligation suggests surely they were still content to let him go. If the numbers are correct then it’s a massive return on an ok player but rating wise he isn’t much more than that
  22. I think there is a player in there and to be fair it’s a deal with little cost. He was on loan at Leicester last season and had a decent goal return and played 30+ PL games and he is a full international at 20 so clearly has something about him. Not sure he will get a lot of game time but who knows particularly with Cole being injured
  23. Yep probably agree with all that.
  24. Must be one hellava performance enhancing impact he’s getting from those drugs if he is still gonna be around in 192 years
  25. Once the charge was laid then he had 14 days to respond. That time has passed. Process is now that there will be exchange of papers my guess would be that Mydryk won’t be denying the test results but it will from his point of view be all about how he hasn’t knowingly taken a banned substance and mitigation The time line from charge to IC is usually for these type of cases between 2&4 months so my guess we will hear about it any time now and if I were a betting man I would guess a ban between 1&2 years
