  6. 70's and 80's were my time. The mid 70's in the old second division are my favourite memories for away day sorties. Followed closely by the early 80's. As for Stamford Bridge, spent most of my time on the North Stand in the mid to late 70's, moving into the old Gate 13 in the East Stand in the early 80's until Uncle Ken kicked us out of there after the Sunderland semi-final 'fireworks'!

  9. Does anyone remember Bob Masters, better known as China who use to travel up regularly from Bristol to watch Chelsea in the late 60's to mid 70's. He was well known to DH and B back then. He was also quite friendly with Primo and Pagic who he was keen to meet up with again but never bumped into them in his visits to the Bridge afterwards. Anyone know if Primo or Pagic are still around?
  10. Thanks for the memories Didier. You are forever a Chelsea legend
  11. Gary Neville is our friend, is our friend, is our friend, Gary Neville is our friend, he loves Chelsea.
  12. The 70s and 80s were the decades I followed Chelsea on a regular basis. First went to the Bridge in 1972 as a 15 year old and spent the next two decades following Chelsea. What memories I have from those days. Had some great times and made many good friends. Some I am still in contact with although most only go to Chelsea a couple of times a season now if at all. In those days we followed Chelsea everywhere. Yes, we were part of a scene that would occasionally spill over into violence. It wasn't just Chelsea. At an away game there was plenty of opposition looking to have a go at us. It was a case of sticking together and being better than the other mob, which in those days we usually were. I honestly don't recall racism being a big part of it. I know the media portrayed Chelsea fans as being racist and neo-nazi but it was greatly exaggerated. To us it was all about being Chelsea. It was who you supported that mattered, not what colour you were. It is almost impossible to explain to anyone who was not around at that time what it was like. I guess if you were not there you are never going to understand. Yes in those days we could mix it. But it was against others who were looking for it. For those who have only experienced attending football in the Sky Sports era, they would never understand. Stadiums full of plastic seats, tourists and crap atmospheres. It's far removed from the game I fell in love with as a young boy. The thing that pisses me off is when those who were not there pass judgement and stick the racist tag on all of the Chelsea mob from back then. And to say they were not real Chelsea supporters. Unlike some of the plastic glory hunters who go now, we followed Chelsea through the hard times. There were no FA Cups, Premier League titles or Champions League to entice us each season. I remember relegation battles, save the Bridge campaign, standing in the Shed, sitting on benches in the West Stand, having a ruck on the North Stand, football specials (cattle trucks more like), Bates wanting to electrocute those in Gate 13...........and it was f-cking brilliant. Best time of my life. It was not about racism. I still go now. Have a season ticket in the Mathew Harding Upper. It's great that we are winning things now. But I wonder how many of the newbies would hang around if leaner times returned.
  13. I am a season ticket holder at Stamford Bridge and a member of the Englandfans. If it came to a choice of Chelsea winning the Champions League again or England winning Euro 12 then it's the Champions League for me without a doubt. Haven't been to an England game for a while now. Pissed off with twats from other clubs who abuse Chelsea players in an England shirt. Some of the lads who I know that follow England are ok to tell you the truth and it's just banter. The ones that just go to Wembley or away matches in reach of easyjet tend to be the worst. Watching Gerrard crossing a ball for Carroll to score? Or Mata passing to Torres to smash home at The Bridge. I know which I would prefer. And it's not f***ing Tin Tin and his sidekick Tonto, that's for sure.
  14. Great memories. Wonder how many of those are still going. Most of my mates from those days rarely get to a match these days sadly.
  15. Which Imperial boozer are you refering to. There is one in the Kings Road and one in West Brompton.

Most of the pubs we use to drink in have changed name and appearance and are no longer proper boozers. In the early 70's we use to use the Rising Sun and the Britannia on the Fulham Road and also the Wheatsheaf on the Kings Road. Mid 70's it was usually the Black Bull and then the Lord Palmerston on the Kings Road. We usually drink in some of the pubs in the North End Road now but to be honest most of the lads who we went with back then no longer go. Some do the occasional match and we always use to have a few get togethers but those seem to be fewer now.
  17. Looking forward to the match on saturday. Went to the last one in 2007 and had a great time. Met a few Rangers fans who we have kept in contact with and have been back up since then to attend Rangers v Hearts. We are flying up early friday morning to spend the week-end in Glasgow and looking forward to meeting up with old friends. Should be a great week-end.
  18. The tickets will go on sale via the website to season ticket holders and members later this month. It was a sale out last time in 2007 so just keep an eye on the Chelsea website.
  19. Really looking forward to this one. We have got tickets booked on easyjet from Bristol to Glasgow. Going up early Friday back Sunday. Last time in 07 was great. Best away friendly I have been on. Been back a few times since to renew friendships made that week-end. We were sorry to see the Glaswegian had closed as it was. There was a small bar under the railway bridge that was Rangers which also closed. That was where we met some Rangers fans who we have kept in touch with since. Will be good to catch up with them again.
  20. What a day that was. I was stood with 'Kojak' and 'China' who was from Bristol. Me and China made our way over from Paddington on the tube and saw a few Chelsea coming away from the ground back into the tube station as we got there, which was not re-assuring. We made our way up to the Den and got in the ground just before kick off. We saw Kojak and he told us of all the trouble that had kicked off earlier. We were right next to the fence that seperated the CBL from the side enclosure. There were a few of the Millwall lads stood around us. Fotunately some of them also use to go over to Chelsea as well at the time and they knew Kojak. They were chatting to the three of us and obviously knew we were Chelsea. Each time Millwall scored they went mental and the three of us just stood there in silence. To be fair, the Millwall mob we were standing with were ok. They could have kicked the sh*t out of the 3 of us at any moment but didn't. Must admit as time went on I was feeling more and more vulnerable. Just before the final whistle me and China said our goodbye to Kojak and took our chances in the street. Getting back to the tube was a heads down, keep your mouth shut, hope for the best situation. We were making our way back to the tube and I just felt that me and China stuck out like a bulldogs boll*cks. There were lots of Millwall about looking to pick off any Chelsea. Then China said "O f*ck. Some of them know me". He had spotted a couple of Millwall further up the road he knew who also went over to the Bridge. We couldn't turn back at that point so just walked through with the crowd, fortunately undetected. We made it to the tube and I have to admit have never been so relieved to hear the sound of the doors shutting on a tube train. The next home game in the Black Bull Eccles told us of his 'adventures' that day. China had been going to Chelsea since the late sixties and knew Eccles and Greenaway quite well. Happy days, great memories.
