  1. Champions again! What a night it was on Friday, I couldn't go up to the Hawthorns because of work but went to Fulham Broadway to watch the game with a load of my mates. The bar absolutely erupted when we scored and the ensuing party spilled onto Fulham Road for a good couple of hours afterwards! Very sore head Saturday morning, but so worth it! I have to say I feel a bit spoilt by this, it's quite surreal. Every other season where we've won the Title we've been favourites or or close second, whereas this season I would have been happy with Top 4 and a decent cup run. I was at the game at the Emirates and when I left there I thought we'd do well to finish in the top 6. But then Antonio Conte's magic came to the fore and we've not looked back. The job he's done has been truly remarkable, from the bold tactical shift which he made to the way in which he managed to foster unity and a renewed sense of purpose in the dressing room. Ever since the 13 game winning run I'd been quietly confident that we'd do it, whenever needed a result to maintain our lead we found one. The 3-0 win at Everton was the key for me, after that I felt it was almost a certainty. I really hope we can do the Double now, these opportunities come around very rarely. The key for Conte will be finding the right balance between rest and keeping the players on their toes over this next two weeks. Can't wait for Wembley now, come on Chels!
  2. I'd echo what many have said that 2004-2005 was the most special given that it was the first I'd ever seen. Having started supporting Chelsea as a young kid in the mid-to-late 90's, winning the Title was only something we could dream of and to see it materialise in such dominant fashion was something to behold. For me, 2005-2006 would follow in that I believe the mark of a truly great side is being able to retain a Title; Not many have ever been able to do that in the Premier League era. I was also completely spellbound by Mourinho at the time and relished every moment of success we had with him. 3rd for me would be Ancelotti's 2009-2010 vintage, probably the best Chelsea side to watch since Abramovich came in. Winning the title on the last day with a thumping 8-0 win was pretty special, especially as we had to win at Old Trafford and Anfield in previous weeks to set it up. I remember beating Arsenal at the Emirates that season 3-0 and also Spurs at home on my birthday by the same scoreline. The last of those 4 would have to be 2014-2015. We were electric in the first half of the season but became ultra-pragmatic in the 2nd half of the season as certain players lost form. Being at Loftus Road to see us nick it 1-0 in the dying minutes was a particular highlight. Also the 0-0 at the Emirates was memorable, listening to the deluded Arsenal fans sing 'Boring Boring Chelsea' at the end of the game when a draw effectively ended their Title aspirations. I didn't appreciate Mourinho's constant criticism of us, referees, the media etc. and to be honest it was during this season that my opinion of him started to sour a little for the first time. So where do I rank 2016-2017? It's very difficult to say, because in all the other years that we've won the Title we were either favourites or close 2nd heading into the season. This year I'd have been happy with top 4, and having left the Emirates after a 3-0 defeat, and 8 points behind Man City, I thought we'd do well to make the top 6. The transformation since then has been staggering, Conte has tactically revolutionised English Football and has been a breath of fresh air. Just like with Ancelotti, there are no protestations, no controversy, but simply an infectious, dignified character who goes about his work with ruthless decorum. We're very lucky to have him and hopefully he stays for many more years.
  3. Really assured performance all round, surprisingly comfortable. Could have been 5 or 6 quite easily really. Fabregas really was magic and the standout performer today. Also though Matic played a really solid game. Almost there!
  4. Tottenham Hotspur, we're waiting for you.
  5. Glad that United's unbeaten run is now over, not that it really meant anything to anyone. It's funny actually because it used annoy so much when opposition fans complained about Mourinho's defensive tactics in these games. But ironically when you are watching from a neutral perspective I must say that it is somewhat frustrating. That said though, he's allowed to set up his team how he wants and rightly so.
  6. Was there when we won the last time and the atmosphere was lacklustre. Granted it was a 12.45 kickoff but even so, given the hatred I would have expected much more. Barely even heard the 'No 'Istoree' song.
  7. Take your point. The final seems to be some combination of the same 4 or so teams every season. What the competition needs is for the English club to rise to the occasion to freshen things up. I believe we can do that next year with the right additions in the Summer. On a personal level I love doing European aways and so am really looking forward to a trip or two with the boys!
  8. Cheers for the follow! I don't tweet much myself but retweet all the good stuff .
  9. The Tottenham love-in on Sky is starting to get a bit much isn't it?
  10. Watford were poor tonight, they looked as if they have more or less checked out for the season. If we are at it against them on the 15th then we really should win that one.
  11. Ha possibly! To be honest I don't think I've seen him once this season.
  12. I can see this being tricky but if we turn up with the right attitude and energy to our play then we should really win. It will be interesting to see how Hull's result against Sunderland on the prior Saturday affects Middlesbrough's approach to this.
  13. What happened to him? Was a good contributor here for a while.
  14. I remember being at WHL when we won 4-2 a few years ago. Me and my mate were on a bus up from Seven Sisters to the ground and a group of the 'y*d Army' got on. One of them was on the phone, sounded like he was trying to arrange a meet or perhaps even an ambush of some kind. We got off fairly soon after as the traffic was bad, I'm not sure where that lot went. Interestingly enough, though, I saw a few of that same group sprint down some side road outside the ground afterwards in pursuit of one of ours. I have no idea what happened though as the police that were around moved us on quickly elsewhere.
  15. Those that have been to WHL as well will know that you need to have your wits about you on the High Road and around the ground. Tottenham's hooligans have a reputation for assaulting vulnerable shirters/individuals and even women, young lads too. Just last week it emerged that they battered one of their own by accident after the FA Cup Semi Final thinking he was a lonesome Chelsea fan and therefore easy prey. Also I remember there was a video after the Capital One Cup Final against us a few seasons back where some Spurs fans started a fight on a train platform against a bloke and his son/daughter who were just minding their own business with Chelsea flags in hand. These c*nts really are the lowest of the low.
  16. Sky love playing around with the different microphones around the ground...
  17. Never heard Goodison as flat as that, it's usually very loud whenever we go there. I reckon the main reason for this was the fact that Saturday's results clinched a Europa League spot for Everton next season; their season essentially ended there and then.
  18. Delighted with the result, feels like it could be a momentous 3 points for us a la QPR away the last time we won the League. Thought we weren't very good at all for the first hour, lacking focus and perhaps the players were feeling a bit nervous. What an incredible strike by Pedro, he's scored some vital goals this season and has become an excellent foil to Hazard and Costa. He was garbage at times last season but has acclimatised brilliantly to the Premier League, happy that he's proved me wrong. Great that we got a clean sheet, even if Everton weren't really at it today. David Luiz is emerging as a real leader in this side, playing through the pain barrier is the kind of thing you love to see as a fan. Hopefully his injury isn't too bad, Conte suggested after the game that it shouldn't be much of an issue. It was a shame that Arsenal couldn't do us a favour but it really shouldn't matter. We have 4 very winnable games left, and we need 9 points (assuming Tottenham win all of their games). It's not over yet but we are hitting a good vein of form at just the right time. On to the next. Come on Chelsea!
  19. Incredible to think that Liverpool haven't lost against the top 6 yet are nowhere to be seen in the Title run-in. On another note Mourinho's bus was parked very well tonight. This bodes well ahead of their upcoming trip to WHL.
  20. Fair point. On the flip side you could argue that after Everton we play 4 average to poor teams that are will effectively either be relegated or mentally on the beach.
  21. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but West Ham's biggest game of the season is Tottenham at home. Their season is essentially over but I'd imagine that Bilic will get the players up for that one. Hull have won several at home in a row and there's a good chance that they might need something on the last day as well.
  22. Everton is the big question mark for in terms of our run-in, and I can honestly see any result in that one given how we have been defending recently. Whatever happens, we'll still be top of the League at the end of this week. The home games though are very winnable on paper, as is WBA whose season will essentially be over by that point. That's not to say that they will roll over but we really should have too much for them at this point. At the same time, let's not forget that Tottenham have two hard home games as well as 3 away games, including a big rival in West Ham and Hull who are in great form at home and most likely will need a result on the last day. Spurs have generally found it much tougher away from home this season; overall, the odds are still very much against them.
  23. The guy had 2/3 Spurs players on him constantly, Benteke wasn't even in the game. Tough for Zaha to do much really.
  24. Well that was annoying. Palace were defending brilliantly but once Sakho got injured they started to withdraw deeper and deeper and began to tire as a unit. I felt like Tottenham would have to do something different to score. Whilst we all probably would have expected Tottenham to win this game it's still frustrating given that Palace held out for 75 odd minutes and it needed a worldie from Eriksen to break the deadlock. Thankfully we are 4 points ahead and whatever happens after Everton we will still be top of the League. I must say that I am a bit worried about Sunday, Everton have been excellent at home and we need to rise to the occasion. Our defending needs to improve significantly.
