G4, that said, would you now start playing Mikel ahead of Ballack? no. but I'd more of an effort to think about how the midfield is meant to function before setting out the side. often I get the impression that it's thrown togethether with no "rhyme or reason".
  2. ha. well, erm, I meant diarra on the bench, obviously.
  3. ;5 central midfielders, loz. jesus! that's not good. but I lke mikel high up far more than lampard. .........................................cech paulo...............carvalho.................essien..............elmer ....................................ballack ...................................................lampard swp................................................................kalou .............................obi mikel ...............................................sheva subs carlo geremi essien drogba sahar obi mikel right up there. as a second striker almost. in any case, give him the defensive and tracking back responsibilty of a striker, leave him close to sheva AT ALL TIMES. ballack deep- should see lots and lots of the ball. that would be ideal. swp to stay wide, kalou can cut in and join sheva, elmer agressive on the overlap.

I have been impressed. as just says, you can see the touches are there- I've also hardly seen him put a pass wrong and early on, when jose kept giving him 10 mins at the top of the diamond you could see he could well be capable of some clever forward passing. his attitude needs to be worked on, by many accounts off the pitch and we've seen a couple of times on it, but in general the criticism of his play on these forums leaves me astounded, but lots of people don't really know what they are talking about.
  5. you should wipe your hands of it.
  6. loz wants it to happen. it would be madness obviously. he would take lampard to transgender strip bars withing days of joining.
  7. but why would he do it, that's what I want to know- he's flush with money.
  8. apologize for nothing G4 hes just a silly plastic, your comment was justified. [/img] that's so childish it verges on genius. clearly the best thing you have ever posted IMO. outstanding work.
  9. ballack has forced nothing on lampard, that's rubbish. but both players ideallly like to play flat, diagonal balls, and make late forward runs. neither are a constant link to the attack, and nor is essien, obviously. I was thinking, if we wanted a lower key player, one that's not a massive star, benayoun from west ham would have been good before they were taken over. deco is great, brilliant. also, does more work than he gets credit for. I like to think of the player at the top of the diamond more as a third striker- he should concern himself with where they anything else. rui costa still alive? great option also.. nolan, jenas, sidwell.... all absolutely not the type of player we need. we have 3 world class box to box players... another short term player would be ivan de la pena. in the summer we should adress getting a long term one...
  10. you aren't a very clever person. that's not your fault, so I apologize for my previous comment in this thread.
  11. IMO there's a difference between one of those and this- this was an injury, a sure one... sometimes a body can take it if it just twists on impact- robben landed on it... It's nice that he has your sympathy, because whenever he does get an injury he gets very little from people on here. as if it's his fault, and that he's somehow doing it on purpose. that's the first reaction and only reaction to a robben injury.
  12. are people f*cking surprised he was injured- after he landed like that was anyone stupid enough to think otherwise? his entire bodyweight came down as his foot was at an angle... now unless your made of elastic that's a guaranteed injury... yes it's frustrating to see him injured again, I'm sure it is for jose, but it must be far worse for robben himself... repetitive serious injuries is an ordeal. he has my sympathy more than anything.
  13. I agree with just and portuga's posts on page 19 re: swp and ballack respectively. not surpried ballack is taking one hell of a beating... he's one of everyone's favourite scapegoats. not surprised either that robben, inexplicably, is taking flack. f*ck that idiot joe cole for being out for the season. robben got injured early, and didn't get to see much of the ball given during his time on the pitch liverpool were busy making our defence look pointless and scoring 2 goals. I thought that in the first half, ballack was one of only maybe 2 or 3 players to do anything with the ball. he played deep, and yet still was the most threatening passer for us- in fact on the pitch given liverpool were going long ball (and rightly so). in the second half he faded and was a candidate to be subbed. it's downright pathetic that people who didn't even see the game choose to single him out. over the course of this thread one poster, who I have a lot of time for, seems to have made a point in singling ballack out throughout the game, whining about everything he does (whether it's true or not), yet casually ignored all other players- lampard smacks a ball into touch? no comment. ballack passes to swp high- screaming. ballack curls one into drogba's path in the area? no comment. swp, I felt, had maybe his best game for us. he was a plus, and I am surprised it took so long for someone to point it out- he kept the ball quite well, stayed wide when moved onto the right and beat people. I wonder how happy this result and other losses secretly make some posters feel. nevermind we lost, it's a chance to attack your favourite f*cking scapegoat.
  14. now we know why johnno did it- the cracks are appearing in our defence.
  15. ha. this has been good. suppress the anger, suppress the anger. if jose decides to protect the scoreline so he can come out and talk b*llocks at full time rather than take a risk... I'll be disappointed.
  16. if he's not careful his career will go down the pan.

it's for the calendar year of 2006, right? if so, ronaldo, drogba and essien shouldn't be there. deco should be, though.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8c3CeAKdDPQ yes, that is brett lee.

I was going to say the same thing, sofa moron. it's almost as good as mine, in fact.

I think there's too much confidence in arsenal here, unfortunately. I am not convinced they'll take all 3.
  21. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...+hangs+up+boots it's a shame, he had plenty of talent.
  22. I agree, and I think dutchblue is getting at that... what I am saying is let him roam wherever- naturally he will go to both flanks... i put him there mainly because it stops sheva from being pushed onto the right. p.s. actually, I don't remember robben ever playing at the top of a diamond.
