Reasons to be worried
Agreed. And Josh to play a few games. Agree with this too.

To those saying it wasn't a bad miss .. I don't think you'd be saying that if it had been 0-0.

I know he's a sh*t defender, but they shouldn't be sending him death threats. After all, it's the manager that picks him.

Reasons to be worried
Regarding Modric, he is playing great and showing everyone why we wanted him so badly. Not sure whose spot he'd replace but he would definitely enhance our side. Frank and Ramires might be vying for the same spot. However .. Would he still want to join us? He looks happy at Spurs, they are playing well, they have a wonderful team spirit, and they are buzzing right now. They are offering him a bumper contract and, though he could earn more with us, the disparity won't be so stark as it was last summer. Also, all this negative press we're getting right now, regarding Terry and our fans, doesn't help matters. There just seems to be a dark cloud hanging over our club right now and the sooner it's lifted the better. The sad thing is, as I said in my original post, that all our main rivals had big problems until we faced QPR. Suddenly that has all been forgotten, and though I feel terribly sorry for JT, I still think this problem is of his own making and one he should have avoided. It was just such a stupid thing to say, whatever he said. Still, he's a legend and has an awful lot of credit in the bank, so I'll forgive him. Understandably, he was as angry as every one of us, but still, keep your mouth shut John .. Losing at QPR isn't the worst thing in the world but the aftermath has been pretty horrific, not least as we're percieved as the bad guys, which is such an injustice considering all that was going on that day. Never mind. It happens. Sometimes in life there are injustices. People suffer far worse injustices every day, it's worth remembering that. Let's not feel too sorry for ourselves. It's important to keep a sense of perspective. Utd had the fall-out from Rooney to deal with. His head wasn't right after his father's arrest and his red card against Montenegro. City had the Tevez affair and Liverpool had the Suarez affair. We were chugging along nicely. Just when Suarez was fast becoming the most hated player in England .. Typical Chelsea.

"A sensitive man would have opted out of such a scenario." So says Patrick Collins, whose very name is a byword for sensitivity.

The "everything you want to say about Torres" thread
On fire? He played well at Utd. Scored one missed one. Played well against Swansea. Scored one saw red. Two goals at home to Genk. Probably the easiest game we will have this season. That's hardly on fire. I can think of many players this term to whom the phrase applies (Rooney, Van Persie, Aguero ..) but not Torres. Not by a long chalk.

A match we need to win for all sorts of reasons .. 1. AVB needs to win a big game, for his confidence and the players' confidence in him as much as anything. 2. We need to keep within touching distance of Utd and City. 3. It's Liverpool. 4. Top four is by no means a formality this season. My thoughts .. 1. Ivan at RB. That would do nicely. 2. No Malouda. 3. Torres to bag a hattrick. 4. Me to keep taking the pills.

Reasons to be worried
I think we were a little bit lucky yesterday. By no means was it a convincing performance. One thing that struck me was that we always look vulnerable defensively, therefore the days of closing out games are gone, i.e. when we knew we could protect a slender lead going into the last few minutes. We just don't look confident in that respect. In fact a lack of confidence was evident in our whole performance, hence the importance of all 3 points, as it may help us recover a bit of belief. The sooner AVB works out his best defence the better IMO. Also, we have problems up front. Anelka, Drogba, Malouda, Kalou. These guys all seem past their sell-by date as far as their Chelsea careers are concerned. That leaves Mata, Torres and Sturridge. Torres is nowhere near the level of Suarez, Rooney, Aguero, Van Persie at the moment. Then you have Chicarito, Dzeko, Adebayor etc. If we have aspirations of challenging for the main prizes, we need him to step up to the plate and personally I have my doubts. If we play Sturridge up front we have no-one good enough to fill in for him on the right. It's all very well playing the pressing game AVB prefers, but you need players who can put other teams to the sword, otherwise it becomes a very risky game. Right now we compare poorly to our rivals in terms of attacking options, and we lack a midfielder that can control the tempo of the game, which is what this system seems to depend upon in part too. Work in progress and I think we may have to revise our expectations for the season. Right now I'd settle for top four. Things can change pretty quickly though ..

Player Ratings v Blackburn
Cech 8/10 Looks good with cotton wool up his nose. Perhaps it will catch on. Ivanovic 8/10 Nearly scored an own goal but we'll let him off. What a cross. Ivanovic never takes it easy, and that's what I like about him. Always preferred him at right-back. Cole 8/10 Was practically our only attacker in the first-half. The boy never stops running. Alex 7/10 I'll give him a seven. Nearly gifted them a goal. We got a clean sheet though and we don't say that too often. JT 8/10 I want to give him a ten but I'll stick with eight. A legend. Mikel 7/10 Not his worst game by a long stretch. Does he do enough? You decide. Lampard 8/10 What can you say? Won the game for us. Had a tidy second-half. Ramires 7/10 He gets the same points as Mikel, which is probably the one and only time I will say that. In truth the ball spent a lot of time in the air. Sturridge 8/10 Like him. Could have had two pens. Put one on a plate for Torres. Movement good. Mata 7/10 Ineffective. Still a hell of a lot better than Malouda. Malouda 2/10 Rightly hauled off at half-time. Subs .. Torres 4/10 Arsenal paid £3m for Van Persie. Just saying. Mereiles 5/10 I was too busy having a heart attack to notice. Oriol 5/10 He gets a five for being such a lovely boy.
