Whenever we win a game in my mind I'm thinking "that's great revenue for the club" and not "we're one step closer to winning the tournament" because I don't care and this isn't what football should be about. This is a sports washing vanity project by FIFA and Saudi Arabia, they couldn't give a toss about the welfare of the players, the clubs have had the chequebook waved in front of their face and have chosen to look the other way with any player concerns because I guarantee the vast majority of the players playing in the European leagues do not want to be here . It's a complete disgrace.

I was about to say if he plays anything other than 4-3-3 with that line up then he's a total f**king idiot, but I think he's proved that already so you might be right.

Given the calibre of CMs we have I think a 4-3-3 is our best formation so I have no complaints about the team, apart from I'd have Tosin instead of Badiashile.

Good signing, definitely needed something on that LW. It'll be interesting to see who the Nkunku replacement will be who I imagine will be the competition on the left.

I think people are underestimating how good Gittens is and how good he can become, but I definitely get that people think we could have done with someone more experienced. But as someone mentioned, we have Quenda coming in next season who looks great and seems to be a player we have big plans for so spending money on a Rodrygo or giving Nico Williams the rumoured near £300k a week doesn't make much sense.

One thing I really dislike about our tactics is when he insists on having Gusto or James inverting, especially Gusto, it takes him completely out of the game and it ends up with no RB but with a league 2 CM in the team instead.

I think Essugo was with the squad a couple of weeks before Santos so Maresca has seen more of him. Either way he got some time today so hopefully it continues.

Unfortunately no amount of whiteboard tactics will stop it from being hideously boring to watch in reality. Every time I feel a bit excited about the upcoming season I remember who our manager is and it just vanishes. We are going to get nowhere with Maresca results wise and it makes it even worse that it's going to be awful to watch as well. Seeing a talented group of players play like a subbuteo team with their flair and creativity drained out of them is a real shame.
