Got to feel for Howe. New season starting, their best player is not playing because he's looking a way out and now a total implosion ahead in the big game against Liverpool... who want their best player. This well might be his last season at Newcastle.

As most Italian Managers I think Enzo prefers to allow 0 goals in rather than score and be exposed. No player loves to be exposed all the time. Players want to win and enjoy doing so. I think players generally like Enzo and his style because its led them to 2 trophies. I also feel the atmosphere inside the squad is very good. Mainly because the lads are all young so they have a lot in common but also how Enzo has made the place. Again I agree we are not the most exciting side in the Prem purely on play style but otherwise probably easily top 5. We have such wealth in talent. I am sure this side could go at opponents with more pace and excitement but that is where you lose the balance and sacrifice the result. We saw that under Poch. Even Liverpool sacrificed the result against Palace by being exposed all game. For that football we need another coach.

Enzo Fernandez to me gets a bit too much stick here. He is far from perfect but he brings something to the team that no one else does. His passing is probably the best in the side alongside with Cole and he has learned to crash the box also in the last season and he's done it successfully. His limitations are pretty clear: lack of pace and lack of defensive awareness/tackling. His heavy fee will hang over him naturally which comes with the job but I don't see him personally suffering of it. He can't do anything with that so why bother. He is also one of the natural leaders of the group. Wish he learned English pretty quick so he could communicate even better with everyone. Never heard him speak English. Anyway he is the type of player I like and I hope he develops into a player that is always in the consideration for team of the season.

Dull? Never said that. End to end headless chicken football is something that I don't enjoy the most. And I am not saying Prem is that but it is kind of more that if that makes sense. Running speed is and athletism is a preferred trait to intelligence and skill. That is basically what I mean. The football that I enjoy doesn't have to have 8 goals, end to end action all the time. Players are the ones playing the game. Maresca isn't exactly telling them what to do or think in every situation. Young sides need more guiding though, a smaller sandbox if you will. Experienced players like Carlo had in RM need basically just ideas thrown to them. They have accumulated solutions over the years of playing to do most of the thinking and actions. I think our players like to play the way we play because it has given them wins and we've been pretty compact. Levi's raved on about Enzo because he's helped him to keep clean sheets and improved as a player. Player like Cole probably feels sometimes the plan restricts him but he also needs to learn the team game. He just saw what happened when he didn't bury every chance or half chance he did under Pochettino. It hurts the team. All the same he saw what a good plan and tactics can do to you against PSG in the final. Re Liverpool playing the same way..yes they don't tinker that much. That is one way of playing football. Enzo does this thing and Liverpool theirs. Re up and down football. Never was a fan of it. That is why I am most excited about our European games rather than Prem games. I know it isn't dumb football because the best players and coaches are in it but it takes a bit a way from some of the most brilliant moves of football.

I think we were a different club before Roman. We were a tier below. What I think most fans would like is we don't drop a tier below but stay as a powerhouse and elevate that even..would you agree? So when I counter all the massive outburst of unnecessary negativity towards them and try to make sense of their decisions I like to compare it to the most relevant era of the club (that I know the best as well). If I compared that to some other era or club even it is not as relevant. It gives context and I think it is the best comparison since most fans here probably agree Roman era of this club is its best in the clubs history. And I agree the new owners are taking risks left and right. I have never denied that. They are venture capitalists. It is a part of their game. Is it good to have these types as owners as opposed to a guy like Roman, probably not BUT THAT IS THE REALITY. Accept the reality and play with the cards you are dealt with. What else can you do? Just be negative the entire time?

I understand we have some longtime fans from the worse days of the club who have more perspective than others, certainly myself. If you want to compare Boehly era Chelsea to another era of this club which is the most relevant? I think Roman. That is the golden era of this club and the aim is to get there or thereabouts again...

I don't know all the background although I apparently work for Boehly as you don't either but debt I think in this climate is not a problem. I am sure Boehly and his peers work with debt all the time. Roman having a fortune in his bank account is the anomaly in this world I believe. Not sure why the debt aspect is always brought up... Well I am not an expert on those matters but I am sure the way Americans look PSR/FFP is a guideline and when they see a club like City is doing they just play with those guidelines as their peers do. They don't see them as law which they are not. They also probably count in all the penalties that could come with it. Again not an expert on any of this but I view that most of this is deliberate.
