  1. ...We shouldn't try to get any goalkeepers from Peruvian league. There seems to be some keepers with shaky hands according to that video. Well its good that Claudio got good practice hitting the ball in the net. But seriously Pizarro is really going to strenghten our team in freekicks, corners and crossballs. We could have Pizarro, Terry, Drogs and Ballack same time in front of the goal waiting for Lamps' or Robbens crosses. Having said that I would really like to see us scoring more goals from straight attacks than from corners for example. If there is 1-1 or 0-0 situation in latter stages of a game we have a real threat for the opposing team in the subs in form of Pizarro since he has been sort of a supersub for Bayern in recent years. SWP has seldom made any difference coming from the bench and Sheva is always better when he starts the game, he's used to it. Usually Mourinho makes the changes really early on. Maybe one reason for that is that there simply ain't anyone on the bench to make a difference in the latter stages of the game. Or do you remember in the recent history when we made a late sub and that changed the game? Kalou was good when he came on in the FA cup final, but other than that.
  2. thanks! didn't think of that...
  3. Sorry for this stupid post, but there is one thing I dont understand in this competition. It is U21 which means players under the age of 21 are eligible to play in this tournament, but still for example England squad has Nigel Reo-Coker and Justin Hoyte who both are 23. It says in the regulations of that competition: "...Players are eligible to play in the Uefa 2007/09 European Under-21 competition if they are born on or after January 1 of 1986." They are both born 1984. And I bet there are lot of players in other teams aswell who dont fit in to the regulations. Does anyone else wonder this or is it common knowledge that you can have this many overaged players in that competition? Again sorry for this stupid post but I just had to ask!
  4. Latest rumors are taking Eto' to Liverstool and Tevez to us. Wouldn't mind if that really happened. Eto's great, but so was Morientes before dressing up red. (someone could be sarcastic here and say the same thing about Sheva, but I still have confidence in him.) Tevez knows english football and he's keen to leave West Ham. I think Spammers just bought them (him and Mascherano) to have them for a season for marketing reasons. You know it is easier to make the purchase when you have seen how the product works in your market. West Ham was just the convenient shop window plus they will make some profit(not sure they made big profits with Marscherano with the big penalty they had to pay). It was really nice from West Ham really.
  5. how did you come up with those numbers?
  6. Combining those two makes sense! Margaret in Camerons clothes: Old lady dressed like a tramp...thats Liverpool! We are more like Cameron in Margarets clothes: Young hottie in blue suit!
  7. (bet i'm not the first to put this kind of thread...) Do you prefer: "Winning with any cost" or "It's really beautiful at its best"? I think Chelsea is leaning to the earlier one (this season especially). Team brazil is more of the latter or barca. Would you like Chelsea to play more of the latter one or do you think it already does? At best Robben's moves are world class as well as Joe Cole's. And Lampard's millimeter accurate long passes are brilliant. Drogba's goals this season were something to look at. But still.. Defence is the key and we always attack with defence bearing in mind. And that's why the attack only looks really good and threatening when we are trailing and a goal is a must. In those situations the team attacks as a team. This season its been mostly Lamps' long pass to Drogs' chest. When you are waiting the game to start you are just waiting chelsea to score early and keep that lead. You are not waiting to see some brilliant moves from Robben or some great one-to-one passes unleashing drogs to score. You just wait 90 minutes to see 3 points coming to the league table. This is how I experienced it this season anyway. Don't get me wrong there we bits and pieces here and there with some brilliance! I think we have all the players and all the skill to play more beatiful, but it is the tactics of JM and many times the tactics of the opposing team(11 men waiting behind the ball) making our attacks look like grinding. Didn't you just love it when Zola made those cool moves and passed the ball looking the other way. Gudjohnsen learned some of those tricks and moves from Zola, but now he's gone as well... I would like to see us in a more attacking formation. 433 was lot more entertaining than 442.
  8. "Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has blamed 'certain people' for undermining the club's title challenge. Jose Mourinho's side had been chasing a third successive Premiership crown, but will have to settle for second spot this term after Sunday's draw at Arsenal ensured Manchester United would clinch the 2006-07 title. Frank Lampard Chelsea 2006/07 profile size FRANK LAMPARD "There have been problems at the club and they have to be addressed, simple as that," Lampard told The Sun. "There are things we have been battling against and we have to put them right. We cannot allow certain people to lose us the spirit that has got us to where we are. "You will understand what I mean when you look at how we played at Arsenal, with 11 players all fighting to win the game. "All our players involved in that performance can take pride from their efforts and look forward to better things. "That's who we are and what we are about as a club, and next year we have to make sure we are focused on being champions again." ...Who or what do you think he means? Or is there something I have missed..
  9. My thoughts exactly sofa manager. But it is still hard to believe that when JT is our captain there is even one player putting himself before team. The way he puts an example. I think MB, AS and AR really have those injuries and they are as serious as reported.
  10. Essien for both; player and goal. Drogs is trailing just behind. Why wasn't Drogs' goals against Barca there. He scored exactly the same goal against pool as he did against barca. And the late 2-2 goal in nou camp was great combination between essien terry and didier. offtopic: Does anyone else hate the (rather) new official flash webpage. I rarely visit since its slow and the text is littlebit unclear..
  11. evissy replied to youlots's topic in General Chelsea FC
He usually passes the final, crucial, pass either too slowly or just in the wrong place. Sometimes he should just do what Robben does and shoot from too tight angle and hope for rebounds(Robben usually thinks he can score from anywhere due to his superhigh dutch selfconfidence ) I mean he can get behind the defending line easily, but when it is time to make that decisive pass or move he usually makes the wrong choice. He's young and he will get his touch right eventually. Hope next season.
  12. Ah, ok. Well I agree with Makelele. It's either Drogs or Essien. I hope next year some of our other talents rise in to another level, or in level they should be. I'm positive they will.
  13. He needs to start scoring goals. Otherwise he's never going to get the recognition he deserves. I think he should have been the player of the year this year since he succesfully replaced Terry and Carvanho and was great all around. And who can forget the goal he rocketed against Arse this season. Remember anyone from the recent past who won it and didn't score exceptional amount of goals from whatever post he played. PFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR 1996: Les Ferdinand (Newcastle)--dont know about that 1997: Alan Shearer (Newcastle) 1998: Dennis Bergkamp (Arsenal) 1999: David Ginola (Tottenham)--didn't even remember this happening 2000: Roy Keane (Man Utd) 2001: Teddy Sheringham (Man Utd) 2002: Ruud van Nistelrooy (Man Utd) 2003: Thierry Henry (Arsenal) 2004: Thierry Henry (Arsenal) 2005: John Terry (Chelsea)---yes, exceptional amount of goals from his post. 2006: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) 2007: Ronaldo(Manure)
  14. Why did Mourinho say that we are after all four? Why did Chelsea try win all four since we had already fatiqued players and injured players? We should have just focused on Champions league and possibly PL. Now we can only get FA-cup which, as fine cup as it is, is nothing compared to CL or PL. Now Manure is number one in PL and Pool has a great change on CL. I think that even Chelsea can't win all four if Manure is flying high like they did and we had all sorts of injury problems during the season. I think Mourinho's ambition to get all four was more of an desperate act to boost the team and supporters than realistic and credible. So why did Mourinho launch this desperate act of trying to save a season that was never going to end with four medals? Is he desperate of trying to save his managering post in Chelsea? OK, i know its easy to say now when prettymuch everything is lost. Its easy to talk afterwards. I have to admit I was really boosted when Mourinho said that we are trying to win everything. That gave hope. Because pretty much anything the special one says sounds credible, but now that he was "wrong" he showed his human side. Didn't know he had that
  15. Crouch just hit the bar. We wont go through with this kind of play. Cant even dream of making a goal playing like this. Put robben in and try to make that decisive goal! COME ON CHELSEA!!!
  16. Switch PF to Essien and Ballack in for Maka if he's not still injured. I think Mikel can handle the DM role. I would like to see Chelsea in attacking formation at Anfield right from the start. If we get that one away goal we should be through. If liverpool does the miracle of scoring 3 goals against chelsea they deserve to win the whole league.
  17. I think we have the best strikers we could get at the moment. Drogba-best in the world Sheva-everyone knows how good he can be and I think he's just finding his best shape Kalou-needs still littlebit time to find his place in the team: he is not a pure striker or a winger, he is something between..well in current chelsea formation anyways. Wingers: Robben and Cole, only C.Ronaldo is better at the moment in England. SWP: he's getting better but just don't know if he's chelsea quality. It would be really stupid to buy someone like Villa. He might never learn how to play in england(Morientes). With drogs and sheva in the team it would take a long time to get used to the game since team like chelsea cant afford to wait players to reach their peak. We are trying to win everything and its extra hard without fully accustomed players. With our current striking force next season will be great(hope no one gets a major injuries like this season)
  18. Have you thought of the chance that we drop out of CL? We would have to then win the EPL and everyone knows how hard that is this late in the season though it looks better now that Manure dropped 3points. If we don't win that either the season is a disaster! And that could mean Jose's early exit. And then there is a chance that Manure wins both. That would be a nightmare. Even worse is that we lose to them in FAcup final as well. I need to stop thinking these worst case scenarios... We could still win 4 trophys! Go Chelsea Go!
  19. i think he just needs more time and a big game where he feels he needs to put everything in the line. dont get me wrong, every player should put everything on the line in every game, but theyre just human. and i think ballack still has a hangover from the world cup...he put everything on the line there. i think he can still adapt to the english game though german players never were too good in premier league.
  20. seems that spuds are also missing berbatov. he was the one player i counted on . if we are to fall this year it's because injuries no matter whos they are.
  21. They are missing King so it will be really hard for them. They (just) need to keep their net untouched as long as possible and go for a late winner...That's not going to happen anyway 'coz they attack really hard home and united have good chances in counter attacks. im guessing 2-1 for manure.
  22. why are we just passively moving the ball down the pitch. looks really horrible. or is the team just somehow waiting terry to come in to give essien the attacking responsibility..dont know
  23. "However, captain John Terry (back) is expected to miss out again alongside Arjen Robben (leg) and Joe Cole (foot)." taken from 4thegame.com charlton-chelsea match preview..seems like its written on thursday so it is not exactly latest information. I was quite confident that terry will play, before reading that. Skysports.com says that terry is playing..thats written yesterday...ok lets just hope he is in form and wont be returning to pitch too early.
