Posted February 1, 200718 yr terry's back, and in he goes... difficult to choose the team for this round- don't really want to drop any of the midfield from the blackburn game, nor the strikers... and diarra deserves a place... ........................................cech diarra..............carvalho................terry.............bridge .......................................maka ...................ballack.......................lampard .......................................mikel ...........................drogba...........sheva subs: carlo paulo essien robben hopefully, swp more likely kalou ... not dropping essien- he's been our best midfielder in terms of form. he's played every game though, so we could try to rest him. if he's needed he's on the bench.
February 1, 200718 yr Essien doesn't need rest. That guy could play games for the youth team, reserve team and for the first team all in one day. My team: Cech Diarra - Riccy - JT - Bridge Ballack - Essien - Makelele - Lampard Sheva - Drogba Subs: Cudicini Ferreira Mikel SWP/Robben Kalou I'm a bit worried about the lack of defensive options. Nice to see Diarra playing so well and I'm glad that Coles injury wasn't as bad as many thought. Boulahrouz is back soon too. I think we will win this game. Well we have to. Sheva will finally get a goal in the league and Drogba will score too. I would also like to see JT head one home on a corner from Lampard. That's three. Hmmm...Ballack can score also. 4-0 to us
February 1, 200718 yr I can't see it being anything but Moos team. No way will Essien be rested and therefore Mikel will be relegated to the subs bench. Against Blackburn we saw a lot of good signs in terms of Lampard and Ballack linking up well with Drogba and Ballack and this is something I hope to see more of. This weekend is a biggie (well they all are from now on but this one in particular) - we have by far the easiest game of all the top four teams and should we win (and we bloody should) then I feel sure we will gain an advantage over at least one of the other three teams. Obviously the main hope would be to make up ground on Utd but it will also do no harm to put a litttle more distance between oursleves and Liverpool should they slip up in the Merseyside derby. Charlton are beginning to look like they might scrape a few points here and there and thus we may need a battling performance. Essien fits the bill,
February 1, 200718 yr Author too easy to point out that lampard and ballack should link up with drogba and sheva. I was tempted to take maka out, put essien in flat and ballack at the bottom of the diamond for his passing and defending of long balls... also, I don't care one jot about what liverpool and arsenal do. I'm only concerned about what we do and hope united can draw 2 games before we play them (and surely, beat them).

February 2, 200718 yr Anyone got a link to the quote in the Standard last night?? About a blanket that is too small??? It was really funny.. I posted this on another forum as well.. no one seems to have seen it???

"It could be the cross ligament, the internal ligament, the patella, I don't know. He can't walk. It is serious." The transfer window closed little more than three hours after Cole was carried off, prompting an unusual summary from Mourinho. He compared his reduced injury-ridden squad to a blanket that was too small to cover the bed. "Pull it up and your feet get cold, pull it down and your body is cold," he explained. The point was that he does not have enough players but at least, he added pointedly, "my blanket is cashmere".

February 2, 200718 yr I am a great supporter of Maka but I would be tempted to play Mikel there instead. Otherwise Moos team is the most likely despite the lack of width. Essien is not well suited to the holding midfield role. All of our midfielders need to score goals. Hopefully Bridge can provide some wing play of note.
February 2, 200718 yr i think bridge will step up...for me he is either hit or miss...im not too worried about A.Cole being injured...it is a blow but bridge is a very good back up
February 2, 200718 yr it is pretty much the one position in our team that we haev suitable back up. Cole out, no big deal, we got bridge. I can't see Essien not playing, so I think he may take the maka role. Mikel has been playing very well, and does a lot better when he is given a start rather than trying to come on as a sub. I see the team being .......................................cech diarra......................terry..........percy........bridge .......................................essien .....................ballack...................lamps .....................................mikel ............................drogs..........sheva Carlo (hilario?) paulo kalou Sweepy Morais
February 2, 200718 yr Not one of you has put anything but Diarra on for RB. I know he did well this week, and I for one would place him in as RB in a heartbeat, but Jose sure does take a liking to his comrade Paulo, two in a row on the bench?
February 2, 200718 yr mad mac has him there...and if i made a line up, i would have him in there as well...thought he was fantastic against rovers...he has some fancy feet, i like that...a wicked cross too...paulo who?!

I know he did well this week, and I for one would place him in as RB in a heartbeat, but Jose sure does take a liking to his comrade Paulo, two in a row on the bench? Paulo should be last person to be accused of getting in the team as favoritism by JM.
February 2, 200718 yr Not sure if Robben is fit. If he is there would be big temptation to start him instead of Sheva. Given the politics it may be very convenient that robben has been injured the past couopld of games 8)
February 2, 200718 yr Lawrenson once again doesn't disappoint: Charlton v Chelsea John Terry will return and that will give Chelsea a massive lift - and despite all their backroom problems, they are still a very good side. I feel that Charlton are resigned to losing these types of fixtures and save themselves for the matches they think they can take some points from. Prediction: 0-2

I know he did well this week, and I for one would place him in as RB in a heartbeat, but Jose sure does take a liking to his comrade Paulo, two in a row on the bench? And what`s wrong with Geremi? apart from the fact that he is crap defensively and can't cross the ball for sh*t? absolutely nothing!
February 2, 200718 yr If JT is fit then Essien will take Mikel's place I think. Diarra should definitely stay at right back. Whilst he is a little suseptible to being caught out of position he gives us a lot more going forward than either Ferreira or Geremi. Playing with a diamond we really do need both full backs to bomb forward and put in some telling crosses and Bridge and Diarra are most likely to give us that out of all the options we have, fit or otherwise.

But I think right now he`s better than Ferreira and Diarra is a dangerous and unexpirienced away match option. So sing the praise song for Geremi with me...... Geremi!! GEremi!!! P.S. Bridge will make crosses and Geremi plays short passes.....!?
February 2, 200718 yr I know this won't go down well with most of the people here, but how about: ------------------------Cech----------------------- -----Essien---Carvalho---Terry---Bridge-- ------------------------Diarra----------------------- -----------Ballack-----------------Lampard------ ------------------------Mikel----------------------- -----------------Sheva-----Drogba---------------- --- Subs: Cudicini, Geremi, Kalou, Maka, Elmer
February 2, 200718 yr Moos's team for me, with Ballack at the tip. Altough i still think he's a bit lazy his vision and passing are excellent and the other three will cover the ground for him. Theres no need to rest the byson, he called walk through walls. P.S. Valerie you must learn to switch that idiot lawrenson off.
