evissy Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Sorry for this stupid post, but there is one thing I dont understand in this competition. It is U21 which means players under the age of 21 are eligible to play in this tournament, but still for example England squad has Nigel Reo-Coker and Justin Hoyte who both are 23. It says in the regulations of that competition: "...Players are eligible to play in the Uefa 2007/09 European Under-21 competition if they are born on or after January 1 of 1986." They are both born 1984. And I bet there are lot of players in other teams aswell who dont fit in to the regulations. Does anyone else wonder this or is it common knowledge that you can have this many overaged players in that competition? Again sorry for this stupid post but I just had to ask!
BackInBlue Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Players who were under 21 at the start of the qualifiers are eligible to play in the tournament, hence all these players still get to play. Hope that helps.
The Moos Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I think I'll try and watch as many games in the U21 as possible. Always nice to see some young talents. Is there any from Chelsea?
bennyboy1976 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Anyone know any way of watching our games live on the net? i am at work and can't get to a tv.

Alan Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I think I'll try and watch as many games in the U21 as possible. Always nice to see some young talents. Is there any from Chelsea? Sahar. Also, we have first option on one of the Serbian Centre Backs, whose name escapes me.

Alan Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Yeah thats the one. According to the official site we have first option on him: Look out too for the second youngest player. Serbian central defender Slobodan Rhakovic is an 18-year-old central defender for OFK Belgrade whom Chelsea has first option on. He played in our friendly for the reserves against Team China at Brentford. He made his first team debut at the age of 15.
abramovich Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Supposedly Roman wants the cream of the crop to end up at Chelsea. [web]http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/sport/football/2007/06/10/roman--i-want-top-kids-98487-19274096/[/web]
g3.7 Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 although, the under 21's is rarely the right level to look for the really talented young players- often they jump past this rung of international football (like rooney, for example)... the world youth cup is a much better tournament for scouting IMO. (I'm not saying we don't do that as well... I am 100% sure we do)

Chelsea have already signed him for 3.8 mill but he will stay with his team to 2007/08 season. Btw I got that from Wikipedia
abramovich Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Sahar starts against Belgium today. [web]http://www.uefa.com/competitions/under21/fixturesresults/round=2240/match=85176/report=lu.html[/web]
Alan Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Good, hopefully he'll play well and maybe get his name on the scoresheet.
The Moos Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Belgium up 1-0 now. Mirallas scored. Nice one too. Managed to catch up with the defender, out muscled him and finished it cleanly.
abramovich Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Watching the Holland-Portugal now. Portugal CB Manuel Da Costa(PSV) looking quite good, he's been linked to us heavily, intelligent player. New manc Nani looks like Michael Jackson during his 'Thriller' period and having a fit after every light challenge, going down faster than Paris Hilton on a new boyfriend. Me thinks he won't like 'Blackburn type' of defending come next season and may feel PL is too physical for him. Royston Drenthe(Feyenoord) looked awesome for Holland. Anyone heard about this fella? He is a young Davids lookalike but plays ala young Seedorf.
The Moos Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Nani and Ronaldo. What a nightmare. I hope Savage gets well before they face ManU
abramovich Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Ruud seems to like him(Drenthe, that is) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAUTS9GPjCM
Alan Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Apparently that Serbian CB we signed/have first option on is going to be sent on loan to PSV next season. [web]http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=472096&CPID=9&clid=8&lid=&title=Blues+to+place+defender+at+PSV&channel=&[/web]
