The Brit
the official website is now taking votes from members/season ticket holders for player of the year...i must admit I have found my choice for this season harder than most cos essien and drogba are so close...i have been a drogba man for most of the season, but ended up choosing essien...i just think his amazing job of playing brilliantly in so many positions this season should be recognised...I also think didier has had a lot of accolades this season, while michael is in danger of being ignored, particularly by the media...so as painful as it was to not vote drogba (I personally feel they should share it), i have gone for the bison
BLUENUT
Carvalho has been excellent this year aswell but I think the 2 you've mentioned will fight it out.
bjd
Drogba for me. First man to get 30+ goals in a since since King Kerry. For that alone he deserves it. Essien a close second.
Nibs
Carvalho has been excellent this year aswell but I think the 2 you've mentioned will fight it out. Yeah - I've heard that Just will be voting for Ricci.

Yeah - I've heard that Just will be voting for Ricci. I heard Just has got special dispensation to cast a double vote - one for Riccy and the other for Robben's nurse

g3.7
agreed makelele... I went for essien half way through, but surely drogba will take it...
forbzy
Essien for me. Drogba has been terrific too but Essien has been asked to play in so many positions this season and not only has he done well wherever he played but also never complained about it (unlike some unspeakable ex-players). loz
Drogs for me - not just for his performances (although they alone would probably be enough) but also because of the phenominal improvement in his game and all round attitude.

just
Carvalho has been excellent this year aswell but I think the 2 you've mentioned will fight it out. I'm not sure if Ricky is going to get Just's vote. I have heard he has put his support behind Robben I was gonna vote for Carvy, but giving away that penalty on Monday night made me think Robben is the winner. Ballack has run them both close though. c3blu
Either or for me out of Drogba or Essein, although i do agree Ricci has done very well. Its amazing as well that super Frank has chiped in with another 20 goals from midfield and is not even in the running. I'd have to give it to DD though, so many goals and some pretty special one's as well. Forbzy, would you be talking about a certain ex-player who has spent the entire season playing out of position(unlucky ) at his new bigger and better club????? The grass certainly was'nt greener was it. Your seasons over la la la la la la

c3blu
Well he said it himself, the future is chelsea. Im just happy that the present is Chelsea too. He'll probably like most gooners be saying with their kids the future is now Arsenal. When we all know Essein will be winning the midfield battles in this country long after Fabragas has headed back to spain (empty handed).
midlandblue
Essien for me, our new David Webb. Does his job week in week out without a word or the need of a kick up the arse. Very, very consistant, fantastic athlete, multi skilled. The TOTAL PLAYER.
Makelele
im telling you, dont bother voting unless its for drogba, you cant win otherwise!!!

Jack
A lot of players could get awards of some sort this season; Cech for his amazing comeback, JT for his total disregard for his own safety; Diarra for surprising us all with his right-back performances; Mikel for his promising starts; Drogba for his wonderful goals - I could go on. My vote will go to a player not only for his brilliance in several different positions, but also for two other reasons. Firstly I believe he will appreciate the award so much it'll cement him as a Chelsea man for many years to come and that's a big deal. Secondly because he has done everything that's been asked of him - midfield, right-back, left-back, centre back - and has done so without one word or even a look of disaffection. The chap who left us in the summer and went to play for the Cirque de Francais up North would have been moaning and whining and threatening to score past Petr, so thank God for a professional player with ability and a sense of duty. Stand up Mr Michael Essien, Player of the Season!!!!
