  1. I have a feeling that Mourinho doesn't rate Torres, or like him, or whatever, something that doesn't surprise me, cos i had a feeling that would be the case when he returned to the club. The Portugese generally don't like the Spanish, do they? You might think I'm talking tosh, but think about it. Mata's being completely left out, Torres doesn't get regular starts, neither does Azpilicueta. All three are Spanish. Coincidence?
  2. I have a feeling we might be recalling him back in January. I hope we don't need to but it may be a necessity. We won 2-0 today and that's great but our strikers aren't scoring.
  3. Yes, but Bayern was a European game. Torres scored 23 goals for us last season, and about 18 of those were in Europe against s**tty teams. He didn't score a single league goal in five months. That's absolutely awful, it's not like he didn't get plenty of games. Even after Ba signed in January, Torres was STILL getting a lot of league starts. But his Europa League form didn't translate into the Premier League. He's at his most comfortable against minnows around Europe for some reason. It seems English defences have sussed him out and know how to keep him quiet.
  4. This is exactly why I was so annoyed we didn't sign a top level striker in the summer. Yes, we got Eto'o, but I was thinking more along the lines of Rooney, Cavani or Falcao. Unfortunately we missed out on all three. It should not have been so impossible for a club of our stature to attract a world class striker. I just felt very disappointed that come the end of the transfer window we were actually WORSE off than we were before it opened in a way, having inexplicably decided to loan out our best goalscorer and keep two inconsistent ones and one who is newly signed and unproven at Chelsea. I just hope that come January we aren't bricking it and panic buying a striker for stupid money cos we're sitting outside the top four, as was the case with Torres.
  5. I think Jose should have started Torres for last night's game. He might be w**k in the league but he's a completely different player in Europe. I feel almost certain Torres would have bagged a brace had he played.
  6. On the plus side, it looks like things are looking good for us to win the league. 2011/12- Everton 1-0 City - City finish Champions 2012/13 Everton 1-0 United- United finish Champions 2013/14 Everton 1-0 Chelsea ?????? Don't quote me on this. Don't wanna look a muppet in May.
  7. Well, this is just awkward, isn't it? Absolutely no one on these boards expected Everton to beat us, clearly.
  8. I still wouldn't rule it out. We have a decent squad and a brilliant manager. United are in transition, City are inconsistent, Arsenal are unreliable and Spurs and Liverpool aren't good enough. We have a very good chance. But signing a top striker I really believe would have made a huge difference. I hope it doesn't matter in the end though.
  9. I don't blame him. At all. Maybe he's sick of trying to forge a place in our side only to be sent on loan all the time. The lad scored 17 goals for West Brom last season, he must be wondering what the hell he has to do to be given a chance by Chelsea. If he wants us to lose on Saturday I honestly can't blame the poor lad. I hope he's on the losing side though, obviously.
  10. I always maintained that our title challenge would depend on if we signed a world class striker this summer. We failed to do so so I am thinking it will be City to be honest. I'd love to be wrong, though. But our strikers aren't good enough. We have a lot of class and strength in midfield but signing a top striker was key, and I think Jose knew that.
  11. Yeah, I was a bit against Lukaku at first but then realise he could have been a really good player for us. Does anyone else think that he'd still be with us if he'd scored that penalty?
  12. That was the point I was trying to make, and all I was trying to say.
  13. And why is Torres still our first choice striker? I just can't figure this out at all. We have money, we have Champions League, we are a huge club. Surely we can get a top class striker here that can score regularly, not just every now and then when he feels like it. Ridiculous that we have relied on this man for nearly three years now. Absolutely ridiculous. And before you say about my avi and name, I am a Torres fan. I loved watching him at Atletico and of course I watched him play while he was at Liverpool. But even I can recognise that the guy has never been Chelsea. I honestly thought we would bring in a striker to replace him this summer.
  14. Like that time he played every second of every game for half the season and scored about two goals in the league? Then when we finally got cover for him, he STILL started most games.
  15. Torres will probably still have the main striker role. I honestly don't know how he manages it. He'll score a lot of goals in Europe for us, he usually does. He's like a different player on the continent. It's the league he's useless in.
  16. I just said something very similar.
  17. I'm a big fan of Torres personally, but as a Chelsea player he has pretty much stunk the Bridge out most of the time. To be honest, I'm very disappointed with this window. Everything I was rooting to happen didn't. Rooney didn't happen. Cavani didn't happen. Falcao didn't happen. Torres getting sold didn't happen. The only thing I'm happy with is Mata and Luiz staying.
  18. I'm starting to think Torres has a shamrock hidden up his ass. He's managed to see off nearly every striker we've had at the club since he signed. Can't believe we've loaned out Lukaku. We now have Torres, Ba and Eto'o to be going for the league with. Brilliant.
  19. This is a tough one, isn't it? A win for either side would see us knocked off top. United on goal difference. Liverpool by two points. Hopefully it's a no score draw. Dull but necessary.
  20. If he stays past the window close then I say we just use him for European games and Eto'o and Lukaku for the league.
  21. What I don't get is that the commentators were talking to Jose about Torres at the end like the guy is definitely staying with us. When it's been all over the news and papers that we're looking to offload him now since Eto'o has come in. Yeah, it's paper talk, but it's from a few sources. Also, what with Eto'o, Lukaku and Schurle all being striking options, Torres won't be playing regular football. Tonight though, he had a really good game and scored a great goal, but all of a sudden, it's like the idea of getting rid of him didn't exist. If someone offers us 20 million plus, we should cash in.
  22. I'm pleased we have just signed a good striker, however I still want Rooney. But he won't hand in a transfer request and United won't sell. So we're pretty much knackered.
  23. I wouldn't say Torres is being picked ahead of anyone at the moment. He started against Hull, didn't get in the squad against Villa, was on the bench against United, probably will start the Super cup game against Bayern but be subbed after an hour. Hopefully we will have another option at that point, though.
