  1. I thought Torres did a very good job tonight, we looked more threatening when he came on. A good, solid half hour where he could have scored. However, we still need a top striker before the window shuts. Desperately. Get one in and sell Ba.
  2. We need to make one more last ditch attempt to get Rooney. 45 million. I don't think we'll get him, especially after that pathetically cheerful reception the United fans gave him tonight. However, we are desperate for firepower up front. The first few matches have highlighted that more and more. Torres didn't have a bad half hour when he came on tonight, he played really well. However, he still isn't finding the net and Ba hasn't, and Lukaku hasn't. It's very early days and time will tell but we don't have a world class finisher anywhere in our squad and that worries me.
  3. It's ****ing awful. Last season's home kit didn't even look like a football kit. That disastrous kit they wore today is just... terrible. I like the top half but what is that ridiculous pattern on the bottom? It looked like someone threw paint at it.
  4. I don't want Suarez anywhere near Chelsea. Ever. Except for when he comes in the opposition shirt. I certainly don't want to see him in ours.
  5. I think if we manage to get Rooney, Jose will make him our main man, and Torres will be either benched or not played at all in certain matches. Since it will likely be his last world cup next year, he won't want to be a sub for the season. He'll likely think it best himself if he leaves.
  6. I have updated my Chelsea TV subscription just last week but for some reason it isn't letting me listen to the game. Can anyone send me a link to a stream? I'm nearly crying here.
  7. Well of course it's great if a striker works hard and puts in 100%. He isn't going to score EVERY game, but it helps if he scores SOME games. Torres, give him his due, works his a**e off for the team. You have to give him that. He gets himself into good positions and he helps a great deal but he just can't seem to morph into the lethal finisher he used to be. Sure, he scores, but can we honestly say we all feel confident if it's him leading the line for us this season? I was more than a little surprised Jose gave him the nod to start over Lukaku.
  8. This is what I don't understand about Torres. You can't fault the guy's workrate. He's one of the biggest grafters in the side. It's baffling that with his workrate and the service he gets from the midfield that he has so much trouble finishing.
  9. At Liverpool, mate.
  10. No, I feel the exact same. The later in the window it gets the more alarmed I feel. Don't get me wrong, Jose is a legend and can work miracles with any team, I have complete faith in him. But the fact is, we don't have a world class striker at the minute. Which is worrying. Lukaku, while good, is inexperienced. Ba is average. Torres is far too inconsistent. Over the course of 38 games can we really depend on these three to pull us over the finishing line? I want to believe it but I just can't. Jose did say it was Rooney or bust, but Rooney is gone. I was so very confident of us landing him but United seem absolutely adamant he's not going despite the fact he clearly doesn't want to be there, they don't care about keeping an unhappy player. I can't imagine what the point is, but it's their decision at the end of the day. Even if it is rather pathetic. I heard we were going after Et'o but even that's dragging along at a snail's pace. I'm feeling very nervous to be honest that United have got four quality forwards, City have three and we have three average/decent ones.
  11. You completely misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm not talking about the whole team being s**t. What I'm saying is, if Torres is poor all game but then pops up with a winner, I'd be far happier than if he worked his balls off the whole game and we lost or drew cos he never scored.
  12. I think it all depends on how badly he wants to play for us, but it's certainly feasible. I don't think he would, but it's not impossible if he wants to come here badly enough. I never saw the point in a club keeping hold of a player that doesn't want to play for them. In some ways it's just proving that they are bigger than the club.
  13. I'm not bothered about workrate. It's nice to put in a shift but at the end of the day I'd rather have a striker that play s**t all game and then scores a winning goal than a striker who works his a**e off all game but doesn't find the net and we draw or lose.
  14. I sit in the MHL when I go to games and it's effing brilliant. I'm usually right behind the corner flag.
  15. KAGAWA?? He's the 3rd best selling football jersey global?
  16. I honestly did have a lot of hope, but now I'm really not so sure. United seem really adamant they aren't selling him, despite the fact he wants to come to us.
  17. I honestly don't reckon we'll get Rooney at this point. If we were going to, we'd have him by now. It will be Torres, Lukaku and Ba this season. Whether we like it or not. When I honestly thought that we would possibly buy a few players and seriously boost our forward line with a big name striker, a position which was desperately lacking last season, I seem to be extremely disappointed.
  18. Thank you. I know they made some utter tomt*t signings like Voronin and Carroll, but for the most part they were great players. I'm a scouser and my dad is a huge Liverpool supporter so I grew up knowing all this stuff even if my preference was for Chelsea.
  19. Yeah I know, but Torres was never prolific at Atletico. He was a very good player, but he was a 15-20 goal a season striker. In his first season at Liverpool, didn't Torres score something stupid like 35 goals or something? Same with Suarez. They had their best seasons in a red shirt. It's a pity we're likely not going to see Torres bang in over 30 in a season for us. It could still happen but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  20. Again with this sarcasm, I really don't love it. I'm not talking about the likes of those strikers. I mean players that they had in the past like John Barnes, Ian Rush, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler etc. Then they had Torres and now Suarez. They all scored goal after goal after goal at Liverpool then once they left they didn't have so great a time. They didn't go s**t or anything but they weren't as prolific elsewhere as they were for Liverpool. I don't know why that is.
  21. Will actually be interesting to see if Suarez gets his move to Arsenal and goes s**t. Liverpool may be a mid table side now but they certainly do have a knack of producing goalscorers, you have to give them that.
  22. I don't appreciate the sarcasm, firstly. Secondly, I was just pointing out that 10-15 league goals a season is not great for a player that cost us that much. You pay that kind of money for a striker that will get you between 25-30+ goals a season.
  23. I suppose players don't want to leave us because we are consistently fighting for top honours, mostly always in the Champions League and can pay them extortionate wages. Why on earth would you want to leave all that?
  24. 10-15 league goals? Outstanding for a 50 million player.
