bjd
A mate reckons bookies have stopped taking bets on him not being their manager tomorrow.Anyone heard anything similar? looking at all those bets he is still odds on to be manager at liverpool next season. but im not so sure. id be stunned if they got rid of him right now though. id say there is a good chance he could end up at his opponents tonight. dont they have elections coming up this summer ? you can bet one of the candidates will promise a new big name manager as well as big name player. clubhappy
Cant understand why Real would appoint him considering he's been a huge flop at Liverpool , ok he won a CL, but domestically he's been an embarassment .

ethicalstrategy
Lots of coverage of it on SSN at the moment. Doesn't sound very likely to me, especially not right now in the middle of a last 16 CL tie.

Lofty
Same here. Any unrest at Scummerpool. can only be good news. On the other hand, if ever a club and a manager were made for each other then it's the fat Spanish gay icon with the dodgy beard and the self-proclaimed Best Fans In the World - sulky, self-delusional, paranoid, mouthy, semi-coherent, mean-spirited, lardy-arsed, no class - see what I mean? blueday3
I think he is exploiting the division amongst the owners, which may be why he is still even there.
TheWestwayWonder
If he announces he is going at any time before Liverpool's chances for the league are all but over (dangerously close now) then he is the saddest c**t alive, and should never be handed another job He is already a self righteous, gobby prick about this stuff. He is going to blow his clubs best chance of a domestic league in 20 years because of handbags with the club president and some idiot owners. Its clear why he throws that "i cant compete because i dont have any money" bullsh*t out there. Becuase he is going to fail AGAIN and he f**king knows it. If I were a scum fan, and thank god im not, forget singing his name, I would want to wring the sad bar steward's neck The excuse and pity wells never run dry for this man. What makes him think a team that axed Bernd "white flag" Schuster wants a manager who is going to capitulate when his team are reasonably still in it for the league? If your team are bottling it, and you are the manager, you are supposed to be a symbol of strength rather than stir the pot further. He is like the anti-Jose

Amen to that. I woudn't want tubby to leave. I don't want to feel any sympathy or respect for that team. As long as they stay as they are, no problem. ethicalstrategy
Looks like Rafa's got his way. Parry to leave post at Liverpool At least it means Jose won't be going there.
TheWestwayWonder
Looks like Rafa's got his way.Parry to leave post at Liverpool At least it means Jose won't be going there. Without injecting my own personal hopes and feelings into the situation, I think that this improves the situation from the perspective of Liverpool's foolish owners, but not from Benitez's. I dont think it was ever about Rick Parry, in reality. You never heard much about Rick Parry and Rafa's umbrage at working with him until this season, when he wanted to essentially trade Xabi Alonso to get Gareth Barry. But Parry, correctly, guessed that they needed reinforcements in attack, and got Keane. At the time Benitez was all about this move, but then he later disowned him. Whatever. Either way, you never heard about Rafa not getting his way when he wanted to buy scores of 2-5 million pound continentals. He always got his way then. Including Babel and Torres who were not cheap. Now, he has his excuses ready made whatever the issue, and the idea that Parry blocked him from building "his" team is near the top. All bias aside, I think this was just an excuse, like his other excuses, tucked in his back pocket for when they dropped points against no mark opposition. As the downfall intensified, and the contract wrangling continued, the situation seemed to get more toxic at that club. And now, the axe has fallen on Parry and from the perspective of the owners, they think Benitez will sign and that will be that. Except, I dont think he will. He is banging on about the refs, about not having money like us and the Mancs, and whatever else he can bitch about to justify failure. I think he is going to walk out on the club at the end of the season, citing these same excuses, and trying to absolve himself of being "the bad guy" in the contract struggle, like they forced his hand. I dont know why he couldnt just shut his mouth about the internal politics, and get on with it. But one way or another, his selfishness and his ego have cost them big. And since its been all about him even when liverpool were finally so close to the title, I doubt he thinks five minute about walking away in June, like he did at Valencia, saying everyone else painted him into a corner. His excuses are already in order
