Scotland 2-0 Macedonia

Featured Replies

Well, Scotland made the most of it, and the half time shenannigans will undoubtably be a talking point. On one hand it isn't very sportsman like to kick the ball out to give yourself an advantage after a "foul" but to be honest, the Macedonian player kicked the ball into his own face and then went down clutching like he'd been kicked in the gonads.

Anyway, Scotland didn't score from that, but it certainly got under the Macedonians. I am just glad that after going the goal up we continued to press the game and take it to the Macedonians. 2-0 is a result I'll take but there were some farcical efforts from both sides.

Anyway, still not holding out much hope. With us being in a smaller group, I'm not sure exactly how it all works with the "best runner ups" going through. I think in order to be conrete we need a result against Holland, and that isn't going to happen unless they rest some players. But even then we'll find a way to mess it up

Scott

Scotland were absolutely dreadful in the first half and couldn't have complained if they went in at half time a couple of goals down. However they came out in the second half a much better side. Having said that, if they make the number of errors in possession on Wednesday that they made tonight then they will get spanked.

I don't think Brown did anything wrong. The game was stopped for an injury to a Macedonian player so why should Brown give te ball back to Macedonia. It did rile them and seemed to have a major impact on them in the 2nd half as well.

Scott - Even if Scotland win on Wednesday there is still a chance they won't qualify.

Yeah I know Loz, I really didn't think Brown had done anything wrong. An I am aware that wednesday a win (although extremely unlikely) wouldn't secure us. Typical. I long for the days when Scotland could contend, and give the English a good game. But these days it's like watching the Chelsea of old. We'd play up against the top teams, and then piss it away against the teams we should beat.

Absolutely agree Loz. My stream was very choppy for the first half, but we were very lucky to go in even at the half. If we play like that against Holland, it'll be another 8-0 thrashing, or whatever it was they gubbed us by a few seasons back.

Macedonia spent so much time cheating today that they forgot to try and win the game. If an English/British team spent that much time diving and/or feigning injury, they'd have been banned for years if UEFA's recent bollocksology is anything to go by.

Oh, and George Burley is a prize w*nker! How the f*ck he can leave out the best Scottish striker in recent years on a regular basis is beyond me - Kris Boyd must start against Holland!!!

:D

Not going to happen Steve. Boyd has pledged to never play for Scotland again as long as Burley is manager.

That was kinda my point, Loz - Burley should go, therefore allowing the best Scots players to appear for the team :D

It doesn't sound like my neighbours ( and fellow Bulgarians, to an extent ) did themselves much honour. What was the incident you talk about ?

they made an arse of themselves during the game by constantly cheating, diving, time wasting etc. but the main incident was actually instigated by scottish player brown. the game was stopped for an injury and the ref wanted a drop ball near the macedonia byline but brown booted it at a macedonia player and gained a corner. thats when it all kicked off, though considering the pissing about they had done all game it was maybe a bit of karma. brown walking away grinning probably wound them up even more, good on him.

It was fortunate to hit the Macedonian player and go out for the corner, I think Brown was so upset that the game had been stopped by the "injury" in the first place. THe Macedonian player jumped in for a ball, and then kicked it up and into his own face. He then rolled about clutching his face, and stopped play....for kicking the ball into his own face.

Nothing came from it other than Scotland got a fortunate corner from the situation. But I don't know what was stopping more...my stream, or the game due to the constant diving

I agree with Boyd on this one, I wouldn't want to play under a plonker either

Personally I think any player who turns his back on playing for his country should never be selected for his country again irrespective of who the manager is. Boyd has every right not to play for Scotland if that is his preferred choice but if he declares a willingness to play again when burley is sacked then the new manager should tell him to beat it.

The whole country should tell him to beat it.
