Last Movie You Watched

I watched two teen "coming-of-age" films, Adventureland and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.

I liked Nick and Norah, it was an easy film to watch, simple enough story revolving around, err, Nick and Norah (Norah is gorgeous by the way). It has a great soundtrack, if like me you like the awkward, teen current punk genre (Vampire Weekend, Band Of Horses et al). It's predictabe what happens, but I throughly enjoyed it!

I much prefered Adventureland, however, which shot right up to alongside Superbad and Zombieland in my favourite teen comedies. Adventureland isn't as obviously funny as those two, focusing more on the relationship between the brilliant Jesse Eisenberg (yes, he is a man) and the again gorgeous, Kristen Stewart. This one has an immense soundtrack aswell, more 70s/80s rock like The Replacements, Husker Du etc.

Both films are recommended, but see Adventureland first, it's brilliant.

Prince of Persia and Twilight Saga Eclipse.

Before watching Prince of Persia I had big expectations and not really knowing anything about it before hand it delivered, action packed movie with a hot princess in it, what more can you ask for?

The movie had some great effects and action scenes in it and I enjoyed it very much until the end. Would really recommend it if you are bored and want to see some good "ancient" action.

Twilight Saga Eclipse, what a joke of a movie. Having watched the 2 previous ones and expecting a better movie then the other ones which simply just had talk in them I was disappointed. Same sh*t all over again and the movie just bored me to death, I guess you have to be a fan of the book franchise to enjoy these movies, for me they are all just jibberish - a lame love story with a vampire and warewolf fighthing for one girl.

Avoid at all cost if you are looking for a good movie.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. It was on BBCThree tonight, I love it so much, it seems you find new funny moments everytime you watch it, such an amazing comedy.

News team. ASSEMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Watched a few movies recently.

Clash of the Titans

- Okay, I've seen it before, but I re-watched it to see if I was too harsh on it. My dad saw it with me this time. He fell asleep after 20 minutes and half way through it I left him there.

I dislike this movie for several reasons. It's boring as hell. The CGI look quite bad (compared to todays standard), the story is quite stupid and to top it all the story isn't even truthful.

No, this is crap.

Prince of Persia

- Never played the games, so I can't compare to them. Didn't expect much and didn't really get it either. It's a decent story and the action is nice, but all in all it's nothing special. Somehow I don't buy Jake Gyllenhaal as the prince - even if he really has done a good job with his body.

Black Death

- Not a big budget on this one, but they still managed to get Sean Bean to play one of the parts. Good job!

Not a great movie, but it's okay if you don't expect too much.

Salt

- If you want a realistic movie with great script, dialogue etc. you might want to avoid this one.

But if you want 100% action then this is the one for you. I took it as it was and highly enjoyed it. It's a good ride - that's all. And I must say that Jolie really is more than action and big lips. She's a really good actress - which she has proved in "Changeling" and "Girl, Interrupted".

Centurion

- Wow, this was quite bad. Not really entertaining unless you consider massive amounts of blood entertaining. Speaking of the blood, it looked awful. The shades of it was weird at some parts and it just looked silly.

Rec 2

- First Rec was great - even if I'm not the biggest fan of the "shaking camera"-technique. A sequel is rarely on par or better, but this one actually was very close to the standard of the first one. Good acting, a bit scary and a good enough story.

If you want good horror-movies, then go outside USA.

I watched Rec 1, decided to go with the spanish version instead of the english version since I heard it was better, have to say the spanish girl is beautiful as well. Enjoyed the movie and I dig the shaky camera thing just like how it was in cloverfield, don't know why but it just seems to be more realistic when it is like that and it makes it more scary.

Thinking about watching Rec 2 today and heard there are going to be like 1 or 2 more rec movies?

Just finished watching Rec 2, good movie indeed, actually thought it was better then the first as more stuff were revealed.

I loved Taken w/ Liam Neeson (sp).

Also out right now, the Expendables (I thought it would be sh*te based on the huge cast of actors; usually turns out poorly but quite a good film), Dinner for Schmucks (unless you're not a steve carell fan in which case you'd have a horrid time), or the Other Guys.

I usually hate Will Ferrell but I think he did spectacularly this time. 5 stars for the Other Guys for sure. My favorite of the three.

A couple of nights ago I went to see the Avant-première of the latest film by Claude Lelouch ( director of Un Homme Et Une Femme and loads more). It is called Ces Amours-là (these loves) but it's not a love film, I don't like love films!

It was an incredibly rich kaleidoscope of memories woven into a film about a woman accused of murdering her husband. I don't want to give any of the plot away, so will say no more about that.

But anyone who loves cinema should see this film. As a young Algerian Jew in Paris during the war, Lelouch spent his afternoons hiding from the Gestapo in the Eden Cinema, where the usherette/projectionist protected him. She is the woman accused of murder.

I want to see it again, and I definitely will buy it when eventually it comes out on DVD.

Last night I watched the DVD of Still Crazy, a film about aged rockers who reform their band. It stars Stephen Rea (great actor - Butcher Boy and The Crying Game amongst others), Bill Nighy, who does a wonderful piss-take of a middle-aged has-been, Jimmy Nail, Timothy Spall, Juliet Aubrey, and a rare acting role for the rather gorgeous and talented Bruce Robinson, who wrote the screenplay for Withnail and I as well as The Killing Fields.

I pretty much agree with all that I found written under a youtube presentation of the final song (the Flame Still Burns)

A very charming, funny & brutally honest film; an unpretentious take on the mercenary Music Bizz; the disillusionment of faded stardom, middle age realities & the search for personal perspective against the backdrop of overpowering/bittersweet memories of better days. "The Flame Still Burns" powers the climax. In this remarkable final scene, a fragile but inspired Brian finally rejoins the band to add his rich, liquid guitar to the "Forbidden" song. It is beautiful, tearful & indelibly memorable.

The only thing I would add is that I thought Billy Connolly with his narrator's know-it-all voice was a weakness that grated for me.

I saw The Expendables last night and it wasn't as good as I had hoped. I didn't expect great story, dialogue or acting (let's face it Stallone, Lundgren, Statham and the rest aren't exactly brilliant actors), but I thought it would just be 100% action and I was going to be okay with that.

But the action wasn't that great. There were some cool scenes, but not many. The fighting scenes were mostly quite bad. At times I hardly knew who was fighting. In one scene there's a bad guy getting a knife in his back. Suddenly he's back in the fight again and I realised that it was someone else who got the knife in his back.

And I had hoped that they would give each character a different style, both in the way they are and also in their fighting, but that didn't really happen.

Luckily the movie was only about 1½ hour long so atleast it wasn't too long.

I expected more from this so I was slightly disappointed.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

Watched that last night together with a date and have to say it was a good movie, Michael Cera being hilarious once again, love that guy haha.

The movie is basically about him choosing over two girls and at the same time trying to track "Fluffy" down, some band that they badly want to go and see and I really enjoyed it, a good teen romantic/comedi movie and would recommend it!

I watched Airplane! last night, never gets old- love it :D

Surely you don't mean that ;)

Nice one, Chippy!

And, I watched Zombieland last night - one of my personal favourites, absolutely brilliant in my book, so funny, so gory and it's makes you jump from time to time! Plus, it has Emma Stone in it. RBJ likes Emma Stone. A lot.

Watched a movie called "The Good, The Bad and The Weird" tonight. Basically an asian western.

A bit long (2h15min), but full of action and it had alot of funny moments.

Grown Ups. After their high school basketball coach passes away, five good friends and former teammates reunite for a Fourth of July holiday weekend. 9/10.
