Toy Story 3!

Inception and Toy Story 3 in a matter of hours. Probably the best 5 or 6 hours I've had in a long, long while. Loved them both for totally different reasons, they were amazing. Absolutely amazing.

French sci-fi classics on Finnish television tomight. First it's Alphaville and straight after that they'll show La Jetée. I've seen both of them once before, so I've got Alphaville in the background, but the copy of La Jetée that I've seen was a poor quality copy, so I think I'll watch it again...or maybe I'll record it on my DVR and watch it later. Good stuff anyway!

When you're done, let us know if the movie actually had a point, or if it's just torture porn.

I don't think it's meant to have a point, other than for the writer and/or director to show off a bit, so I think torture-porn is a very good description. But then I'm only as far as Danny Glover getting cut at the moment. Perhaps it gets all deep and meaningful later on.

I gave up on Saw after the third movie, same sh*t all over again with no f**king point to it :D

Surely you're gonna watch parts 4, 5 and 6 as well? How else are you gonna make sense of it all when you go watch Saw 3D?

Saw and Saw II are genuinely decent films.

Saws III and IV grow somewhat tedious and repetitive

Saws V and VI were boring and barely watchable. It doesn't really do much for a series when you kill off the main antagonist (who is the only really good character in the whole series) halfway through.

Maks, I read somewhere that whilst Saw 3D is A denouement, it's a false one and the whole thread only comes together in Saw 36DD, which I am almost tempted to jump straight to, if I'm honest.

Oops. Sorry yb. I guess I may as well tell you that the main character wakes up and finds that it's all a dream at the end.

Thanks for reminding me. I bought that about six weeks ago because it had John Hurt ,Tom Wilkinson and Ray Winstone in it so I figured it had to be good. But I've had a lot of visitors recently and haven't got round to watching it yet. So that's what I'll be doing tonight.

So, now I have watched it.

I'd forgotten it also had Ian McShane - problem with him is I always see "Lovejoy" ! But excellent acting and dialogue. It was almost like a stage play. As Bonetti said, there was a lot of swearing - the script could have been written by Lofty - but it was totally appropriate. At times very moving, at times very funny (John Hurt muttering "De-f**king-plorable" ) but right from the beginning very gripping. I also will probably watch it again in a few weeks. Don't want to give the plot away too much. I think you maybe need to be English to understand some of the dialogue. Oh, and some excellent clips from Victor Mature and Hedy Lamarr in Samson and Delilah, with John Hurt giving an up-to-date commentary.

Not a film but I have just finished watching Russel T. Davies's 'The Second Coming' which was made in 2003 and starred Christopher Eccleston and Lesley Sharp. I watched it when it was first on television but hadn't seen it since.

Russel T. Davies is one of the most talented writers around just now and TV would be a much better place if there was more from the likes of him and a lot less of the sh*te that has forged careers for a multitude of partially talented soap opera actors.

Not only is it worth watching purely for what it contains but also because its main critics were a blinkered religous half wits who refused to accept the idea that the son of God could be an ordinary punter with limited intellect and who didn't give a toss where you want to put your willy!

You want to try to get a copy of "Son Of Man" which was also a film made for TV in the late 60's (or early 70's?). Written by Dennis Potter, it starred Colin Blakely as a Jesus tormented by doubts as to whether he really was who he was claiming to be. It caused outrage among the faithful.

Just finished watching 'Born on the Fourth of July.' Such a pity Oliver Stone has forgotten how to make films of this quality, and also a shame that Tom Cruise has forgotten how good an actor he was.

That said, we better win tonight I need cheering up after that.
