April 28, 201016 yr One of your own, eh, Maks? I've got Wigwam's album "Hard'n'Horny" on iTunes now, probably the only Finnish band I've heard!
April 28, 201016 yr One of your own, eh, Maks? Yeah...I found some good live performances from them on youtube. Stuff that they did for Finnish television.
April 28, 201016 yr ...probably the only Finnish band I've heard! Maybe you might want to try some of this: http://www.myspace.com/thembirdthings It's a new band, but they've got a nice "old school" pop/rock sound that I quite enjoy.

April 29, 201016 yr I am far too m uch of a lady to wipe my arse with your marmalade,BlueBeard (besides it wold be quite messy, which would be coounter-productive) but I give you: The Mighty Boosh:
April 29, 201016 yr But of course it will never get the same amount of play as All Mod Cons or Setting Sons (or even This is the Modern World for that matter.) couldn't agree more nibs imo there will never be another band like the jam, got some great memories of seeing them live in the late 70s-early 80s
April 29, 201016 yr Listening to Diane Birch - Bible Belt - I think Carole King has been cloned and tweaked
April 30, 201016 yr Not music, but I've just been sent this link to an amazing short film. My heart is pounding! I need a tranquilliser after this! http://www.flixxy.com/game-of-survival.htm

April 30, 201016 yr fusspot! Sorry... :( ...I just don't think the sound editor did justice to the visuals. Cinema is an audiovisual art form after all. ;)
April 30, 201016 yr I know that. But I'm less discerning than you. Also I just assumed it was my computer not producing it very well. Was that whimpering really the little bear? It was tearing me apart - because if it was my heart was bleeding for him, if it wasn;t I was annoyed at being manipulated!
April 30, 201016 yr Was that whimpering really the little bear? It was tearing me apart - because if it was my heart was bleeding for him, if it wasn;t I was annoyed at being manipulated! It sounded to me like some of the sounds were not recorded on location. Some of them sounded very much like foley sounds. To me many of the sounds sounded too clear to be from the actual shooting situation and I'm assuming the whimpering was one of them(sounds not recorded on location). I seriously doubt a boom operator could have followed the bear and while there's the small possibility that they put a mic on the bear, I doubt they did that. The sound mixing just wasn't very well balanced, so it made the suspension of disbelief very hard for me. Of course, if someone knows it was all recorded on location, then I'm more than willing to admit that I was wrong. I'm just saying what it sounds like to me. I think I'll watch it again and concentrate on the sound even more. Edited April 30, 201016 yr by Maksimov
April 30, 201016 yr what is "foley" sound? It's a sound that is recorded after the shooting, usually in a studio and is then added to the soundtrack of the movie(in sync with the action) in post production. Kicks, punches, sounds of bullets flying, steps, glass breaking etc. Sometimes foley artists use the weirdest things to get the sounds that they need. For example, I watched a making of featurette on the extra disc of the Indiana Jones dvd-box and to create a sound of masses of snakes crawling on top of each other, they recorded a sound that came from fondling some greasy casserole. Basically anything goes, just as long as it sounds "right" or believable. Of course many movies have creatures and things that don't exist in real life, so that's when the sound editors and/or foleys have to be really creative to come up with sounds that those creatures or things could make. --- This going terribly off topic, so maybe one of the moderators could remove this whole bear debate and make it a separate thread. ;) Edited April 30, 201016 yr by Maksimov
April 30, 201016 yr Was that whimpering really the little bear? Of course it wasn't, moi. The whimpering was taken from the sounds of the Tottenham leader, recorded when Chelsea stormed their mob at Victoria Station in the early 80's, and dubbed on later ;)
April 30, 201016 yr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlNNcj_j-NM To keep Maks happy, I'll put it back on topic with Alanis Morrisette - except that my add special item button is no longer working! Maks - you don't have enough to worry about! Very interesting conversations are had in the detours through life - you'll miss a lot if you never stray from the path!
May 1, 201016 yr Maks - you don't have enough to worry about! Very interesting conversations are had in the detours through life - you'll miss a lot if you never stray from the path! Hey, I don't mind taking detours, it's just that some forum members seem to get very cranky when people go off topic.

May 1, 201016 yr P.S. (I can only enter at the top - weird!) For those who are Sharpe lovers, this is Hagman singing) In the immortal words of Col in The crying Game, "Fuk'em, Maks!"
