Lofty's Wall of Sound - What are you listening to?

Featured Replies

I'm currently listening to the 1980 Blondie album, "Autoamerican". It got slated when it first came out, but I've grown to like it now, though obviously it's nowhere near as good as their first three albums.

Lately I've listening to allot of Passion Pit, they have a couple of great songs and really mix up the styles well:

And I discovered this band thanks to FIFA 09 (I have to say, FIFA always pulls out a great soundtrack):

Speaking of Passion Pit, their part of the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest this year :D The line-up over two weeks is incredible for the city: Iron Maiden, Gypsy Kings, The Bacon Brothers, Moody Blues, B-52s, Joan Jett, Roger Hodgson, Passion Pit, Flaming Lips, Rush, Alexisonfire, Arcade Fire, Santana, Matthew Good, Weezer, and many many others. I'm thinking of purchasing the event long pass, but we'll see. Plus Roger Waters is coming to town to perform The Wall, which is incredible. Kind of exciting to see the number of big names coming over in the past couple of years, usualy most of the bands overlook Ottawa and go to either Montreal or Toronto, but recently the line-ups have been insane.

I remember buying Parallel Lines, and this guy giving me a poster of DH from some Dutch music paper, talk about dying and going to heaven, it soon wore off when I saw this

I knew BB was getting on a bit but i didnt know he was around to be a source of inspiration for the great bard.

Been doing the rounds over the last few days, I've been blown away by this kid. Take into account this kid is in the American equivalent of Year 7!

That voice will change once his rocks drop...

Forsoof and gadzooks mate, taught the geezer all he knew!

If you had there would have been a lot more swearing in his plays.. "Is this a f**king dagger i see before me you w**ker?" "whats that bloody light through yonder bar stewarding window breaks"

Anna von Hausswolff - Singing from the Grave

Anna is the daughter of a girl I shared a flat with when I first moved here. Not sure if it's been released in UK yet, but check out her myspace page or there's a few tracks on Spotify
