doug Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Sawyer returned to Southend United on 14 July 2009 on loan until January 2010. After a series of breaches in club discipline Sawyer was sent home by Southend and then at his own request had his loan cut short and returned to Chelsea on 26 October. On 12 November, it was announced that Sawyer's contract with Chelsea had been terminated. Have just found this. Haven't seen it on this site so apologies if its old news. Appeared on the bench both league and champions league so must have been serious. Now signed for Barnet.
Valerie Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Oooooh, controversial...! What did he do, does anyone know?
Phillip Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Does anyone have the scoop on what he did to get disciplined by Southend and to get his contract terminated by Chelsea? Also, is he any good?
Oblivion Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Linkage Apparently he failed to attend a team meeting.
Phillip Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Thanks. That explains why the Shrimpers dumped Sawyer, but it says nothing about why Chelsea terminated their contract with him (unless they don't want to deal with someone who has shown unprofessional tendencies whilst on loan to another club).
Oblivion Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 He's got a track record of indiscipline during his short career. Guess this was the last straw.
