Anybody else hear this rumour ?

Was posted on facebook by a well known Chelsea connection.

Been doing the rounds all day Ian.

Only question that has to be begged right now, is why on earth they would even think about it....

If he dosent fit into C.A.'s long term plans im sure they wont turn down a decent bid if its made.

He's available on a free at the end of the season, so bids are irrelevant.

I do think it's right that we're not giving him a new contract until he shows some form. Hopefully he'll show some before the end of the season, but if he doesn't, letting him go won't be too bad a decision... especially with the amount of money he's rumoured to be after. If he can't show any form by the end of the season, it's reasonable to assume that he's not likely to get it back under Ancelotti. It would be heartbreaking for him to go somewhere like Man Utd, or god forbid Spurs, but if he's not going to be good enough again, he's just a burden on the wage budget.

Lets just hope he can show us that he's worth a new contract and we give him one before it's too late.

So he can just get the bosman rule applied straight away right now? I thought he had another year left.

Yeah, he can leave, but he doesn't want to. Remember though, that the Bosman rule only works for international transfers. I think it's only 6 weeks before the end of the contract if he wants to stay in England.

I wrote it off as nonsense when I read it, but after seeing this thread, it made me wonder whether it is the same rumour that Joe had viewed 3 houses in Manchester with his Mrs and an older bloke in attendance.

My mate emailed me on Tuesday after an apparent leak on the net by someone who knew the estate agent and said it was more likely City than United.

It's probably all nonsense but the second time this week I have seen this.

Maybe Joe Cole got brain damage, and still hasn't recovered.... That would be a good enough excuse for why he would ever consider a move to Manchester

I can't see Joe Cole going to United but City is a possibility, especially given the fact that there are a few former Chelsea players there at the moment. Could possible be a influcential factor but who knows. We'll have to wait and see on that one.

Wouldnt be happy if we let him go for free. Of course he isnt performing, and his demand for a pay-rise (if true) is truly ridiculous but I still think he can offer something from the bench if we are struggling or also as a starter (that is if he finds some form back). He is also one of the few players (if we have any) that can add some flair to our game. And even if he keeps playing like sh*te we can still sell him next summer (or winter) for a few millions.

The Man Yoo rumours are old, I remember him being linked with them a while back. However, the City ones are interesting? Of course, I don't hink he's shown enough consistancy to be first team at Chelsea or Man U, but I really wonder if Mancini would even entertain the idea of bringing him in?

If he does become a free agent, then anything could happen ;) I'm sure it's just usettling rumour for now. What the boy really needs is a string of decent performance to earn himself a new contract.

Ah yes, I forgot about the international stipulation. Thanks mate.

Sophie, are you a Manc supporter? If so then I think you are being very hypocritical. Also, there is no point in "looking after your own" if they are not performing well enough

not at all mad mac and thank you for the pleasent reply. i'm a lower division fan and couldnt give a fook about your team same as man u.

i do however love seeing players like cole, gasgoine, hoddle, lol.

and what gets me is a player like j cole who has gave everything for your team and come on, if he had actually god forbid gone to manchester or tottenham, i really think he could have been so much better. why u begrudge him trying to futher his carear at 28 when hes always been a bit part player, and one of your posters still think he shud do this is beyond me.

dont forget he only cost u 6mill at 22 years age not bad lol

I think the threat of the transfer ban was completely behind Joey failing to sign a new contract, no doubt spurred on by his greedy bloody agent.

Now, with the lifting of the ban, the shoe is definetely on the other foot. The club now hold the upper hand, and may indeed decide to reduce his weekly wage, if he decides to sign, or they indeed decide to actually offer him a new contract.

I'd be gutted if he left, but as has been said many times before, players come and go, but the club itself is the only constant.

I think what you have to remember is that he wasn't always a bit part player for us, he's been a first team player, when fit at least... However, we've shown the faith to keep him through his injury problems, and given him lots of opportunities so far. He's shown next to nothing in them, he's shown what looked like a return to old form in one game (as far as I remember, I could be wrong there) so far. Which really isn't good enough. If he doesn't look like he's going to get back to his old form or ability at any point this season, why should we keep him? Why should we continue to pay him his wages -- the increase he's supposedly asking for would take that up to over 100k a week -- if he can't show us any decent form?

You accuse us of forgetting the quality he's shown in the past? Why should that affect the deals we give him in the future? Sentiment counts for nothing in the world of business and at the end of the day, football these days is just that, a business. It doesn't really matter what someone who doesn't support the club -- and for that matter doesn't watch the quantity of games we do -- thinks about a player. We as a club should act in our best interests, any other side would do exactly the same. As I said in my post, if he shows form at some point before the season, or an improvement this season, then we should reward him with a new contract and keep him here, but if he doesn't look like he'll ever improve why should we keep him? I love the guy, I love that he's a life long Chelsea fan and some of the comments he comes out with are brilliant, but at the end of the day, the management has to make decisions in the interest of the club, not the players.

We could well find that moving away from us, he improves his form, which would be great for him and England, and probably wouldn't be so great for us, but we'll have made the best decision we could at the time. Also lol at your dig at us by saying he would have been better if he went to another club (nice choice of rivals too). I think you need to look at your reasons for joining this forum, though, as you only really post about Joe Cole and generally it's something negative about our views on Cole... and usually it seems like you haven't seen the games, which makes it harder to comprehend your stance... I do want to see what you think of my views and this post, but it just seems to me that you're just posting here because you don't like us and like Joe...
