Clarke has made his choice and since then both parties have moved on. Supposedly he felt marginalized during Scolari's tenure at the club and jumped at the chance to work with Zola at West Ham although the season had already started and he was under contract. While I could understand his personal feelings and ambitions I doubt he'd be welcomed back with open arms, nor do I think he's needed since his stint at the new club did nothing to back up his much talked about defensive expertise.

Steve has done well for Chelsea but it's all in the past. Good luck to him wherever he will go.

Whereever he goes Clarke will be an assistant manager and despite the fact that I have always had doubts about Wilkins there is no getting away from the fact he is currently part of a successful partnership with Ancelotti so there is no reason to replace him.

West ham can't afford to pay Clarke off after they employed him as the highest paid Number 2 in the premiership (??!??) I think that's why they so hotly rumoured to be going for Grant. If Clarke chooses to walk I think he'd only do it for a managers role, not as a coach.
