lil-drogba11 Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 What do you think of Luis Suárez as a player? Forget about his handball in the World Cup What do you think of him as a player? Should Chelsea buy him? What squad # would he wear?
Maksimov Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 What do you think of him as a player? I haven't seen enough of him to really say. I've heard he's hot a pretty good goal scoring record at Ajax, but he wouldn't be the first, so I'd need to see more of him to say if he's a good player or not. Should Chelsea buy him? Judging by the little I've seen, he seems like a promising player, but I haven't seen enough of him to say whether or not Chelsea should sign him. If I had to say...at the moment I'd say we probably shouldn't buy him because he will probably be very expensive and we've got some good and fairly young attacking players at the club already. What squad # would he wear? Have we even made on offer for him? I think it's way too premature to be talking about a squad number at the moment.

What squad # would he wear? Why would I forget it? That made me like the player even more. He saved his team! First he stopped the ball with feet and then with hands. He knew exactly what was coming and Ghana wasn't cool enough to go through simple as that. Uruguay went through deservedly.

Would you want him to handball it for Chelsea if it was 1-1.
Hutch Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 it's been noted before that people are just posting names of players they think we should sign. so i've found a rumour for you: Chelsea Confirm Interest In Uruguay Star Luis Suarez More transfer news are put and it has been reported that Uruguay international striker Luis Suarez is in Chelsea’s sights. According toThe People, the Ajax star is Chelsea’s fall back option should Liverpool refuse to do business over Fernando Torres. Suarez, now age 23, has been a target for Ancelotti since he arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer and Chelsea were working on signing him last January. Ajax are now willing to cash in on the player, who enjoyed a successful World Cup before his handball controversy. And although they will demand a hefty transfer, Suarez will be available for around half the price of injury-prone Torres. LINK
big blue Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 its clear the boy has talent, and is a quality finisher, but he needs to be given a starting role from the get go, and hit the ground running or it could end up being a similar situation to kezman. out n out goalscorers need to be in the team n scoring goals because a goal scorer with no confidence is like playing emile heskey
Ben Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Good striker, but makes drogba's play acting look like nothing. Do we want another player who throws themselves all over the place?
ws6blue Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 agree with Ben, suarez talented but he spends half the time going over and waving fake red cards.................its called 'clever' but its dishonest at the amount he does it if it wasnt for that I would sign him cos he is quick, slippery and can shoot from anywhere
Maksimov Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 he spends half the time going over and waving fake red cards.................its called 'clever' It's not clever.
Maverick Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Would you want him to handball it for Chelsea if it was 1-1. With our defence I dont see him being on the goal line for staters. :)
evissy Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Would you want him to handball it for Chelsea if it was 1-1. If it was the same situation as in that game, h*ll yes!. 122mins played, opponent shooting for the goal. His only choice was to handle the ball or it was in and his team had lost. He knew red card was coming, he knew Ghana was going to get a penalty and he knew they still had to shoot that penalty. He did what many wouldn't have done and saved his team. I don't understand when people are asking was the man hero or villain..He was the hero no doubt about it. Rules are rules.

evissy Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Don't know if we will se Suarez playing against us friday but it would be nice to see. Would boost this thread and create whole lot of rumours :D
clubhappy Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Don't know if we will se Suarez playing against us friday but it would be nice to see. Would boost this thread and create whole lot of rumours :D Evissy, I totally agree with you. Would create alot of rumours. I saw his 2 goals against S.Korea, Brilliant epecially his second goal
Ben Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I believe he would be a success in the prem, but he is worse than Ronoldo & Drogba (at his worst) for play acting.
Essiens Rocket Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Hes a class player and i think he would fit in here. Showed what hes about in the World Cup (in all areas! as others have said) Wouldnt be cheap but he would get 20+ goals i think
ace Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 From what I hear, we'll be playing a pretty "weak" defense on Friday, so even he goes off on us, we probably shouldn't get too excited. That being said, I would not mind signing him if we can't get Aguero, especially since he would be considerably cheaper and allow us to stay in for an Ozil or Dzagoev.
Ben Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Be interesting to see what Essien does up against him today.
Andreas Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Be interesting to see what Essien does up against him today. Too bad Suarez didnt play :D
TheWestwayWonder Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I dont mean to be the internet police, but we already have a thread: And put me in with the camp suspicious of any prolific Eredivise scorer. Yes, they might be great in a bigger league, but its far from a sure thing.
Maksimov Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 And put me in with the camp suspicious of any prolific Eredivise scorer. Yes, they might be great in a bigger league, but its far from a sure thing. It's not just the smaller leagues, because Forlan was terrible when he was at ManU, but he's been scoring for fun ever since he left Manchester. It's always a risk to bring in a player from another league.
TheWestwayWonder Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I know, Maks, its always a risk. I think its just people see incredible numbers from an all attacking league and think they have the next Gerd Muller on their hands. I mean, this is a stereotypical skepticism, but thats my feeling on it. I dont want to sound like some closed minded idiot, because every player is different, but still. In Forlan's case he went from Argentina to Man Utd. That was a poor choice I think, because if he had wound up in La Liga first, he might have gone to Man Utd later and been a success. Higuain came from River and found his niche in Madrid, and Aguero did at Atletico. Again, this is horrible generalization, but I think certain leagues just translate much better and mach styles.
ace Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Anyone have confirmation of Suarez playing right now for Ajax in their Champion's League game? His involvement would almost certainly put off most of the clubs that have been linked to him for a big-money move, although I'm sure we were never actually in for him to begin with.
