Hi Chelsea fans.

A Sheffielder coming in peace and looking for a little advice. I was wondering what the chances of getting a ticket for the Mareseille Champions League game where and whether there is anything to do to enhance that? I live in London and my mrs is French. She is from Marseille and a L'OM fan. That said, Chelsea is her English team. She also has a big crush on Drogba. Anyway i've been meaning to take her to the Bridge for some time, but have always found tickets sparse. This seems the perfect opportunity to take her to my her first game (if at all possible).

I confess to not being a Chelsea fan and realise this may seem a bit cheeky coming on here. However I'm not looking to offend and am only seeking info. I'm not a trouble causer of any sort and my mrs is a good girl too. Basically i'm trying to say, if we were able to get tickets we'd keep our mouths shut.

Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

Hi,

The match is on Tuesday 28th Sept at Stamford Bridge. I would expect tickets to go on general sale for this match and tickets are £30 each for CL group games.

To enhance your chances of getting a ticket you could buy one Chelsea membership (£25) which means you can buy tickets ahead of general sale. The system works like this (for Premier League matches): Firstly members can buy one ticket per membership; then a week later members can buy extra tickets; then a week later they go on general sale. To get two tickets together members need to wait to buy until the extra tickets come on sale. I should think the system will be different for CL games due to the shorter lead time, so members may be able to buy more then one ticket straight away, I can't remember from last year!

In summary, tickets could go onto general sale, but for the price of one membership you would definitely get tickets IMO.

Hope that helps,

Fester

thanks, I saw that.

Drogba won't be playing? :( how come? Is he suspended or is there an injury I miss.

One more thing ...... are there any sections of the stand I should avoid? I gather Chelsea is quite a family club, but there are wondered if there are any pockets of the stadium that are 'rough'.

Not these days mate, the only bother nowadays is if someone starts complaining the prawns are on the turn!

I would say avoid the west and east stands if you want atmosphere

the smell of mothballs and piss is atmosphere isn't it?

You also could be told to sit down by other than that mute supporters in the east and the west stands..

The last match I was at, Jasmine had to complain to an usher because an unwashed oik in front of us kept standing up and blocking her camera view of the field

I want it all:

- good view

- good atmosphere

- hugs ;)

- not to get decked (after all we are a Frenchy and a Northern Monkey)

Where's the away section?

How many away tickets will Chelsea give? I should imagine L'OM will fill it. They are a noisy bunch of buggers as well!

The east side of Shed upper and lower is allocated to away fans.

I would recommend the Shed upper for you, because it's right beside the away fans and you have a good view + atmosphere. I'm usually in the Matthew Harding lower because of the atmosphere, but the view is best at either Shed or MH upper. Enjoy your game mate.

Does the same apply to away games? I'm moving to france for a year and will be a short distance from marseille. Couldn't believe it when the draw came through!
