Where's Borini ?

Featured Replies

Borini was getting on the bench regularly, but we haven't heard or seen anything from him for ages.

Strange how he could not get on the bench for the Newcastle game, when players like Billy Clifford, Jacob Mellis, and Chalobah were included.

Does anybody know what has happened to him ?

Did I miss an injurry update or a loan spell ?

I thought this was gonna be one of them games like where`s Wally, I`m now very sad.

Must admit I expected to see him on the bench against Newcastle and had that in my BPL prediction. I have never been convinced by Borini but have regularly been put in my place by people who admittedly have seen him play far more often than I have so I have always hoped to be proved wrong.

Wasn't he injured during the start of this season? Perhaps he's just returned.

Also, the competition up front is very hard.

Malouda - Drogba - Anelka

Kakuta - Sturridge - Kalou

It's not exactly easy to get a chance.

But I think Carlo named him as one of the youngsters who would get some time in the first team so his time will come. Our exit from the Carling Cup hardly helped him though.

Last I heard of Borini was playing the reserves v Everton but that was just over a month ago. He wasn't involved in the Newcastle away reserve game, or against Fulham at Cobham. I haven't heard any news of an injury, so maybe he's in that limbo, hovering between the reserves and first team squad.

Injured or not, I'm not sold on him. He isn't skilled enough to play out wide and he isn't big enough to play in the middle. He will meet play before Sturridge and Kakuta. That isn't even counting the normal attackers in Drogba, Anelka, Malouda, Kalou, etc.

That sounds an awful lot like Michael Owen.

I remember the good old days when I could refer to Defoe as a "sh*t Michael Owen".

He's playing for the reserves at the moment along with bosingwa.

And Borini had a good game against the dippers too. Scored 1 and made 1 in a 3-1 win.
