I 've been reading about the possible quitting of Chris Samba from Blackburn . From what I 've seen him , he seems to be a good defender knowing what it takes to be a center back in the premier league .

For that reason , I believe we should go for him . He is young for a CB , knows premier league well , could be a good back up option and everyone will be happy . He should also be looking forward to come to a big club and possible medals and trophies .

what ya guys think ? Will he be a good addition to our side ?

Can't just say No ! Not an objective question , need a subjective answer :)

The talk of chelsea class and other such things are a bit too far considering how we are trying to restructure our club fianances . We have had a lot of high priced flops sicne Roman took over and we need these kind of squad players ...

OK, no because he is

A) Lumberingly slow

B) Poor, positionally

C) Not as good as what we currently have

D) Of a skill level that is more suited to the First division or Scottich football, and

E) probably looking for regular first team football.

And I disagree with your premise about high-priced flops. Without dragging up Sheva, name me three. Or two. Or one.

High priced flops is not just over 30 M flops .. Even SWP was not a big one for us . We almost lost 10+ on his total transfer fee ...

Even players who were not able to justify the astronomical transfer fees fall into the category .. I m not blaming anyone .. No one knew what would happen .. But when it comes to financial hard times and other things , we will have to go with calculated spending is my point ..

And Samba looked a good option .. But yeah , you have a point about his not so great positional sense ...

Some people on this sight must still think it's 1994 no to chris samba and no to whoever mention joey Barton on another thread these are ridiculous, would any team in the the top 6 even consider these players? I highly doubt it, u can't beat the world without world beaters. These 2are definately not world beaters. Let's aim a little higher people! Please!!!!

I dont usually go hook line and sinker for the "not chelsea standard" talk, but here that is pretty apt. He is a big, physical player, but he's also all the things Yorkley mentioned. And 27.

Actually, I bet he could be an absolute beast in the SPL. If he would ever go there.

Re: high priced flops, that was in the era where we literally had two internationals at every positions, and couldve fielded two competitive teams from our single squad.

I realize the club has to be more discerning in their buys, but if theyre looking at players from midtable clubs, they should be looking at those who are showing promise, and have the age and potential to grow. Not those who are unimpressive even after hitting their peak.

Wow, I actually think he's a really good player. Have people actually watched Blackburn over the last season or so? Not that we should sign him, but there are rumours that Spurs and Arsenal are battling for him in January. I reckon if he ends up going to a big club we'll see what a rock he actually is. And he's bloody fast for a guy who's 6'4"

I hope we are not overrating English centre backs on here too. I've heard Jagielka, Cahill, Johnson and even Lescott mentioned as options. Funny how Blackburn managed to keep more clean sheets last season than Everton, Bolton, Brum and City with sh*te Samba in their team. Again, I'm not saying we should sign him. But I'm glad Wenger has come out and said they wont be buying anyone cause he'd have been a big improvement on Squillaci or Koscielny imo.
