STATEMENT BY CPO CHAIRMAN, STEVE FRANKHAM - 27/4/12

Directors of Chelsea Pitch Owners this week (Monday 23 April) attended a meeting with councillors of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF) and planning officers.

The LBHF reiterated their position - laid out in a statement from them on 9 March - that they would like Chelsea FC to stay at Stamford Bridge.

They also explained they would be happy to assist the club further in exploring ways to expand the stadium's capacity, and that it remains their belief this can be done, although not without difficulty.

The club has put an immense amount of time and money into exploring how to expand Stamford Bridge and believes there are serious planning difficulties and, in any event, it is not financially viable.

It is the CPO board's intention to continue dialogue with both parties in the hope of producing more clarity on these crucial issues.

SO, THE PITCH OWNERS WANT TO STAY PUT, AND THE CLUB BELIEVE STAYING PUT IS NOT AN OPTION

round 1 completes....................don't hold your breath

Let the council use its power of imminent domain then and make the necessary surrounding properties become available for re development of the Bridge to meet the

council's own safety regulations, simple really but unlikely. In his mother country Roman could drop a wedge and this would happen.

I did notice how the second we beat Barcelona the board were being quoted as saying we won't be able to sustain this level of success unless we build a new stadium. Really trying to play on people's emotions after such a great win. Starting to really dislike the people who run our club.

So they've spent "an immense amount" of money to come to the conclusion that to expand is "not financially viable". Good to know we're spending money on the right thing... :redcard:

To be fair to the club they have listened to the fans and have looked at everything possible to keep us at The Bridge.

I am gutted as the next fan but we are going to have to like it or lump it we are moving. Did anyone notice how Gourlay used the euphoria of the Barcalona win to almost announce an inevitable move.

Just about timing now I am afraid
