BrewCrew Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Apparently there is a partnership deal in place with the formula one company. Just a little extra cash for the club isn't bad. http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/story/_/id/7871757/chelsea-formula-one-sauber-agree-partnership-deal
shedpensioner Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 From what I read its not about cash, more sports science and global awareness!
Huttsey Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I'm quite impressed with this deal. F1 has a huge following worldwide so it will definitely raise awareness of the club!
CodyBound Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I'm a big fan of F1 and I cannot wait to see the Chelsea emblem sitting on the Saubers! Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez had better start flying that blue flag high! Imagine if they won a grand prix or even the championship sometime in the future (likely to be far in the future) with the Chelsea emblem sitting on their Car!
Zola Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Seems like a strange partnership but I suppose if it doesnt cost us much then it can hardly do any harm. I'll still not watch the F1 though as I find it incredibly dull.
wxwax Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Sounds like a simple cross-sponsorship. Perhaps no money involved, just a trade: exposure on the car for exposure on Chelsea pitch-side signage and interview room background. I'm a huge fan of F1, always wondered why there wasn't a thread here about it. I like Sauber, a plucky little team that overachieves, given their limited resources.
Gem Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I don't get cars, so this is lost on me. I used to say when the adverts went '4 wheel drive as standard' - 'well of course its 4 wheels otherwise it would be a bike.' I kid you not, and that was when I was about 21/22.
TomW Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Kinda weird. I was thinking the other day about an agreement with an F1 team being good publicity. Already liked Sauber, just another reason to like them.

Four-wheel dive means there are four steering wheels, one for each seat. That way, people can take turns driving the car. Loads of fun!
