I never even thought about that, I just thought this was a normal sponsorship deal to get us an Energy Partner, the same as all those other clubs

Apparently this isn't as errr, dodgy as it first sounds. They have just become an official Champions League sponsor and already have deals with Schalke and Zenit among others.

Do we have any figures? Gazprom is one of the largest oil/nat gas players on the planet. Stock was soaring in '08 on the insane energy/commodity prices before the shoe fell on Lehman.
