Under 21`s Chelsea 5-0 Wolves

Featured Replies

1-0 at half time and a very tight game until in the second half when a 15 year old lad called Jeremie Boga came on. Wow, what a player he looks, scored a fantastic goal and was involved in a couple others. Great win for the boys, Ake looked superb at the back again. Other scorers were Conteh, Baker and Piazon in the second half with Piazon also scoring the opener in the 1st half. Conteh`s goal was a belter by the way, 50 yard run beating players all over the place.

Agree Jeremie Boga was very good when he came on , had some lovely touches and his finish for his goal was sublime , and he's still only a schoolboy.

Just watched the game on Chelsea TV and I was very impressed with what I saw.

Blackman: very good performance. He is starting to look more and more like a consistent keeper, and has removed most of the "junior flaws" from his game. Excellent reaction time, very good at saving low shots (even though he is a tall man) and becoming a good keeper aerially.

Kane: consistent performer. High energy levels but struggled a bit with his crosses yesterday. Still, he is a defender and was very solid at the back. Definitely a future prospect for us.

Davey: solid, but maybe a bit too slow and lethargic at the top international level (EPL)?

Ake: reminds me a lot of a young Paul Elliot. Rapid as a winger, strong tackler, cool headed and a tremendous work rate. Having pace in defense is very important, and Ake can make up a few yards on almost any striker, at least on youth/reserve level.

Conteh: had a smashing goal and solid at the back. Struggled a bit with his crosses, but kept our width and were lively.

Saville: I like this guy. Hard working and a decent passer of the ball. Maybe not talented enough to make it all the way to EPL for a "winning side"?

Loftus-Cheek: decent performance, didn't notice him very much to be honest.

Clifford: some great through balls and a solid performance all in all.

Baker: same as Clifford. Lively, some decent shots from distance and all in all a good performance.

Piazon: skips challenges in the same way as Le Tissier did. Fluid, agile and tons of "end product". I would be very surprised if he didn't get any playing time for the senior team this season.

Bamford: missed a couple of chances today, but I like him. I think he has everything to succeed at the top level. Reminds me a bit of a young Shearer. Great link-up player as well.

Boga: wow. 15 years old?!? Not only does he have a technical level beyond the norm, he is also very robust physically. Rooney played much when he was 16/17 years old, I wouldn't be surprised if Boga could do something like that, especially with our "new philosophy". Alongside with Feruz he is the player I've been most impressed with (based on age, skills and maturity on the pitch).

Musonda: N/A

Dabo: N/A

Agree with pretty much all of that, and liking the Ake - Paul Elliot thing. I used to worship Elliot as a defender and your absolutely bang on, Ake is very similar.

Boga impressed at the end of last season too. Absolutely ridiculous how good he is for his age.

Extremely talented side.

High hopes for Billy, Chalobah, Ake, Kane, Feruz, Loftus-Cheek, Bamford and of course Boga.

If none of these guys are in the first team in a few years we might as well just close down the academy and get rid of the youth team. A youth team doesn't come with much more potential than this.

Seeing Sterling play fairly regularly for Pool (at least he's preferred out wide in Rodgers' system), and playing very well, does get my hopes up for a young debut from Boga, Feruz, Piazon etc etc.

Of course, we can't go all Arsenal, but with all the new rules coming up we have to build some consistency and a sustainable team. And there's nothing better than seeing a youngster make it all the way as a supporter!

Did any of the Musonda brothers play?

I think one of them came on near the end.

There was such a hype about Charlie Musonda but it looks like he and his brothers are forgotten by now.

Hes only been at the club 2 months, I think thats a bit quick to say he has been forgotten.

Watching those highlights, it looks like Piazon is the jewell in the crown, and no wonder he is skipper. It's hard not to draw comparisons with Oscar, as they play in a very similar way, and seem to roam about the pitch, with the emphasis on attacking. I wonder what Piazon makes of the Oscar transfer, given he is not much more than 2 years younger, and it may be very hard to accomodate both in the same side. I remember our last Youth Cup winning side, before this one, with Josh impressing everybody, and look what has happened to him, he has hardly played since at any level and had his development criminally stifled, and he may find it hard to break in next term when he hopefully comes back from loan, given the arrival of Oscar. Piazon may be wondering if he'll ever get a proper chance at Chelsea.

Tiko Masounda scored the second goal.

Boga scored the second goal, Masounda didnt come on until about 75 minutes I think.

What i like about this u21 team is their work rate and pressing. It is so much better then the first teams . Piazon lost the ball in one attack and chased right back to outside our penalty box to win the ball.
