Sad to hear the media reports coming out today that Gazza is in intensive care and close to death.

Idol of mine growing up watching him and such a sad shame. He has reached this point.

Hopefully he pulls through!! #PrayforGazza

having read his autobiography its pretty clear the man has severe mental issues, hence the drinking, hence the woman beating.

i honestly don't think he has many more years left.

no sympathy for the man he's had enough chances!! and i f**king hate woman beaters!!

I hate women beaters too. I was unfortunate enough to be married to one.

However, I have a huge amount of pity in my heart for a man who was such a talented footballer, who gave so much pleasure to so many with his skills, who was given too much, too young and who is now paying the price of that and I feel enormous sadness for his children and those who love him... or loved the man they once knew. Compassion, in my opinion, is what separates the man from the beast.

I wish him the strength, the courage and the will to fight and beat his addictions with every fibre of my body.

I read on the red button (that's about as close to a newspaper as I'll ever get) that he's

not in a critical condition.

So that's a bit of good news, if it's true.

Although I never knew he was a wife beater, I remember hearing something about

George Best once.
