Been watching the Real/Bayern game, somehow knew it would be the most entertaining.

Beckham really played good tonight one of his best performances, great shooting, great passing. Without Becks Real would have been in massive trouble.

Was a nice CL-night to make yourself ready for tomorow.

quite the result for Celtic. Man U very lucky...took a free kick early like henry did against us while Lillle were not ready. Also, Man U had a goal against them, but were let off when the ref deemed the lille striker to have pushed Carrick while scoring. Think Carrick made the most out of a small nudge!

I watched the Celtic game - Celtic totally outplayed but Milan totally toothless as expected.

Two highlights of the game

1. Neil Lennon being called a good professional

2. Gilardinho with possibly the worst dive in the history of football (rightly booked for it) - look out for it in the highlights.

The referee in the Lille-Man.Utd game was a disgrace. He was heavy-handed from the start, yellow carding a Lille player in only the 2nd minute for a nothing challenge. Manure appeared to be getting away with a lot more than Lille, seemed to me the ref was definitely biased, or at best, incompetent.

His incompetence was confirmed in the second half, when he disallowed a Lille goal for the slightest push, very harsh decision. Then not long after, he gave Manure a free-kick, let Giggs take it quickly a la Henry against us. The Lille players went mental, and their coach waved his players off the pitch. It looked very much as if he was trying to get them to walk off and get the game abandoned, but he saw sense and the game continued. Even so, I should imagine Lille will get severely punished by UEFA.

The incident sparked off the crowd who started throwing dozens of missiles onto the pitch - sadly none of them hit a Manure player

All of this, because of one man - the ref really was a tw*t.

Beckham shone, (by that I mean he passed well), for the first 45 when Real were attacking, and then all but disappeared in the 2nd half when Real were under the cosh.

Where would you fit Beckham in our team ? Who would you leave out for him ? Why would you have him in there ? The only reason I can think of is for his dead-ball delivery. Other than that, zip.

Also Cannavaro facked up big-time for Bayern's first goal. Totally went to sleep and left Lucio unmarked.

You won't be surprised to hear it was Archie macPherson - he also said 'OOOhh Just Wide' when a Nakamura free kick missd the Milan post by about 10 feet!

Regarding the Giggs free kick , where does the laws of the game stand on that ? Are the opposition not allowed time to adjust their wall and defend the kick ?

Ronaldo throwing a wobbler cause he was taken off was joyus. He was back to his usual , throwing shapes in front of defenders and losing the ball . For me the jury is still out on him , ok he can do all his clever tricks against Watford , West ham etc , but he hasnt convinced me one bit that he's a world class player.

Neil Lennon being called a good professional is well and good , but they usually say that about players with limited ability.

Arsenal , all fur coat and no knickers . Wenger is a two faced p***k and ill celebrate when they end up with bugger all this season.

I think the rules of are that you can take the free kick as quickly as you want AS LONG AS you haven't asked for the wall to be put back the 10 yards and you haven't asked for the whistle.

The big difference between last night's free kick (which I thoguht was fine) and the one Arsenal scored against us was that last night the ref gave no indication whatsoever that the team had to wait for the whistle.

In our game Poll clearly held up the whistle and indicated toward it which basically tells the defending team that this free kick is to be played to the whistle - this then makes the defending team think they have time to set the wall etc.

Totally agreed. An unexpirienced ref was appointed and ,frankly, I expect penalty against Lille for Ronaldo`s dive. But there was another case yesterday.

And again no penalty for Scholes` mad tackle. Ref was sh*t.

And totally Lille looked nice in the 1st half, but was playing too direct.

Now no additional pressure for Manures in the 2nd leg. What a pity!!
