Best pub before the game on Saturday

Featured Replies

Morning lads,

Im a Rangers fan coming down for the game this weekend. I've been to a handful of games before but they've always been with my dad and my wee brother.

Coming down with a mate this time so hoping to find a decent pub for a few pints before, hopefully with a bit of atmosphere as well! Just wondering if anyone could help with recommending one, don't really want to end up strolling into an away fans pub this week...

Cheers.

Thanks Tim - might give that a whirl before the Arsenal game - what is it you like about it (other than being able to stumble into the ground). What's the atmosphere like, what beer do they do, prices, singing?

If it's sunny, The Fox and Pheasant, proper Chelsea pub and nice to stand outside with a friendly crowd, ale's not bad either.

The Hand & Flower is a nice pub, can't remember the specifics on the beer front but I have always liked it in there.

Decent Chelsea pub and I have been there a few times when there has been a bit of singing after games etc but it's nothing like what the So or Imperial was, more often that not I don't really think much singing gets going. You will be disappointed if that's what you are hoping for...

The pub I have been enjoying recently, especially after games, is the Imperial in West Brompton.

Excellent crack in there, pumps out all footie and Chelsea songs, ska, bit of singing and lots of banter, different vide to the So etc but a proper laugh.

Sigh.....I was just hoping, against any real expectation!  And it's more before the game than after, long journey back and have started travelling on our local supporters' coach for ease and price which goes back straight after the match.

Might try that Imperial next time, always walk past it on the way to the Goose.

I'm sick to death of talking about pubs on here

Probably best not to enter a thread that has the word 'Pub' in the title then really isn't it.

Drogs you are correct, however, this subject has been discussed more times than I've had pints of lager!!! Also jones I wouldn't bother going to the imperial!! We ain't never gonna get a proper pub whilst we are in sw6. The fact is the pubs round the ground don't want 'singers' in there. It kills me to say it but the so bar atmosphere will never happen again.

Woah!!! You're obviously a lightweight!

Stuart - please ignore this rude reaction which is not all typical of ShedEnders, who are warm, friendly people. As I am on my Kindle Fire I can't use the emoticon I want, so just imagine an old Scottish crone (moi) wielding a rolling pin.

P.S. to previous - I see this is stevemollymalone's first post. Not the best way to endear yourself to forum members.

Yes you are right, The So Bar has closed so everyone should now never go to another pub again on a match day, ever, ever again.
