Football Experience Foreign Chelsea Fans

Featured Replies

Hello!

My name is Luke and i support Chelsea FC for a long time now. As a foreigner it's hard to connect with local fans in London to experience a match day like they do every week. So i came up with the idea to change the football experience for foreign football fans. Basically me and a irish friend of mine were discussing going to matches etc and sort of came up with an idea that were trying to get going.

It's still very concept at this stage, so don't judge me now ha! - The accommodation would be with a local supporter Bed and Breakfast style. This would allow us to keep prices all year around as opposed to hotels etc that can raise them when match days come around for foreign fans. It also means that fans travelling through this system would be supporting other Chelsea supporters financially who in turn would be able to afford to get more games etc.

We'd love to know how foreign Chelsea fans experience their match days in London. And if you like this idea and would use this system if it was available for Chelsea fans. If you're not a foreigner, feel free to say something, as you experience match days in a different way than foreign fans do!

We also made a survey, so that we can see what you guys think of it! This survey is for football supporters and should only take a couple of minutes! We'd really appreciate it!

I don't quite see how this works. Staying over at another (locally based) supporter? How would that support other supporters financially? And how would reliability of the receiving supporter be assessed?

It's already out there for tourists around the world, for example couchsurfing. Foreign fans can contact local fans via an internal messaging system on the platform if they want to host hem. The local fans will receive the booking fee through this system, because they're the ones who host foreign football fans who also support Chelsea. Reliability is still something that we've to work on. It's still an idea!

Thanks for all the great responses so far on the survey, even local fans who support Chelsea! Appreciate that!

Ah. I'm unfamiliar with couchsurfing. I wouldn't use that or your service, it seems unreliable. I wouldn't feel safe.

a foreigner Chelsea fan?

The locals would call you a 'Glory Hunter' and you are not loved or regarded reliable anyway.

there are lots of little hotels arounf Earls Court area anyway

Foreign fans are not loved or reliable anyway? How do you know 'foreigners' are not reliable?

Your way of thinking is so wrong, i mean how can you think like that? In the end everyone is supporting the same club with the same passion.

When i first walked into Stamford Bridge at the age of fourteen, i fell in love with that team running out in that blue shirt. That's something what drew me to the club and it's an addiction i have for life. I love chatting with fellow blues on match days and i think they're a lot of other 'foreigners' who think like that!

What experience have you on this? Following Chelsea since 94 been away with the fans in england and Europe id I've always struck up a friendship. I'm very vocal as well if the bridge have 10 thousand like me the place would be rocking. I'm as passionate as anyone living in the uk
