Retro Shirts.

Featured Replies

I do like a retro shirt but why is the choice so piss poor?. A mate of mine has got the late 70's early 80's Umbro home shirt which he bought in the Megastore in 2007. What happened did Chelsea fall out with Umbro over costs? you can't get these shirts anywhere now. Who owns i'm not sure that copyright is the right word Umbro or Chelsea?. The early 80's Le Coq Sportif ones are even rarer you can get a replica of a replica if you know what i mean but they don't look the same.

I do know that Le Coq Sportif pulled out of football after Heysel which i bet they regret now. There was a bloke who on Ebay was for ages trying to sell the home shirt and shorts from that era. He said his old man had a sport shop in the 70's. He wanted £50 for it but the size was small so who was gonna buy it?. You couldn't give it to your kid because in our era we used to laugh at the Stanley Matthews type shorts, kids today piss themselves over the frankly miniscule things we had to wear.

Peckham Blue if you go to Amazon there's a version of the 1905 top but as Big Figure said it should be the grandad type collar. This has a 70's type round collar is short sleeve and costs £15. Short sleeves in 1905 !!

I just ordered the 1905 shirt (3XXL! I hope it fits) Tommy posted from Topps. There's a bit of a wait due to the badge embroidering and the fact they've got to pick a whole field of cotten but that's OK.

I can't wait until some one asks me what badge that is.

I used to fit into the Le Coq shirt, blue and white, the last current Chelsea shirts I ever bought. My son wears my old blue one to away games and loves it. I saw a bloke at Dulwich Hamlet wearing one the other day but after speaking with him it was a repro.

Hey Bazzablue, classicfootballshirts is a great website that offers some classic retro kits. They have the majority of Chelsea shirts from 1971 onward. So they offer a couple Le Coq Chelsea shirts from the 1980s and have a ton of Umbro shirts from the 1980s and 1990s, probably every single one actually. The only problem is, they've gotten a little more expensive now over the last few years as they have expanded.

Yes i've known about that site for a good few years Butterhampton. That's extortion the prices they charge.

Got the blue one and the yellow one. Only trouble is I'm not a medium any more!

Still got most of my shirts from early 80s. A few still fit as well
