^ In this case, fame (well, a high profile) and money are a double-edged sword for Johnson. Money gets him a decent defence lawyer but fame gets the allegation all over the media and makes a lot of people assume he's guilty. Even if he's found not-guilty some people will believe he is. Mud sticks.

Yes it didn't in 1999 when Rix did something strikingly similar.

I don't think Zola was talking about Chelsea 1999.

He was talking about Chelsea today.

guilty by association for me

any person on civil street would get completly rinsed and this guy is clearly a complete muppet

imagine the fallout for public servicemen and women, happens reg and they never live it down.

he should be struck off, if i owned sfc hed be gone already

Agreed, I would say If you are rich and famous, you have NO excuses. You simply keep your dick in yer pants until you get home to your GF and MANSION.

oh and you must remember to hide your gun properly.

so to sum up:

if your a millionaire footballer you shouldnt:

A. cheat on your mrs and rape a pubescent 15yr old

B. groom said teen

C. have a gun

...unless you have an amazing lawyer who will get you off scot free

english justice system, fkkk yeahhh

I'm sure he wasn't but some of us probably remember that case and are treading a little carefully around it considering.

We don't what happened though.

Minor triviality.

Good responses, But my argument is, If he has a top lawyer, Which he will, Even if he is guilty he's likely going to get loads of leniency anyway and if its not guilty can anyone really tell? (all sorts of things could happen in a trial of this nature, like the girl pulls out due to intimidation etc, id point to ched evans case)

It's another case of innocent until proven guilty, and just because he was charged doesn't mean he's guilty. Remember Michael Le Vell from Coronation Street? Whole thing was a stitch up.

Spot on as always mate!

In the current climate factual evidence will be paramount. Legal guidance shows the different approach to under and over 13 years of age and whether it was internet based and so on; it is complex.

The Evans court report shows significant ambiguity.

IF this guy is actually guilty, poor girl; IF he is actually innocent poor him.

a good lawyer will ensure this isn't so clear surely, muddy the water, make the victim out to be some teen slag etc etc etc

That's true also; the girl will have a tough time in court. It's a rubbish situation for all concerned.

I hear what you're saying, but there is currently a lot of focus on such methods. The trial will be some way off and may be under a different government. We, Joe Public, don't know anywhere near the actual circumstances, but we do know plenty of examples of trial by media and miscarriages of justice. This is a no win situation, both parties are suffering one way or another.

its fked basically, i hope charges are brought against the girl if its all bs. but then other women are scared off??

also why didnt that occur with the mec off of corrie?(prison for false accusations etc)

harsh sentences both ways no exceptions

not often do i see accusers go down accept cases ive read of multiple false claim offenders (weird scary women who cry wolf for saying hello etc)

It sure is, if they started prosecuting those that falsely accuse they would surely see a drop in false cases. I actually feel sorry for those that have had it happen to them and yet nothing's been done while people are falsely accusing some and getting away with it. Another thing with these sorts of cases is usually the Mothers are heavily involved and I remember a case with Rob Lowe where he was set up by the young girls daughter, luckily the judge knew what was going on and didn't prosecute Lowe.

also what if the women is made out to be a false claimer or w/e by a lawyer and castigated/charged because of a lack of evidence even if it happened? i.e no instant rape tests etc

then a women (or man) could go down for essentially being raped in the first place?

justice system they cry...pffft

Police priorities are also under review, but much is stagnant until after the election.
