Chelsea vs Sheffield Utd

Recommended Posts

So it`s tomorrow. At least we almost have no injuries and can afford to change our game model in diffirent ways.

We must remember a clash against Tottenham on 19 March.

So I believe it will be 4-4-2 tomorrow:

Maka and Cole had rested enough, so they must start.

And I`ll be happy to see Essien in a midfield.

Ballack is untouchable , as usual......

.....................Cech.......................

Diarra....Rikky.......JT........A.Cole...

..................Makelele.....................

........Essien.............Lampard.........

...................Ballack......................

........Drogba...........Sheva.............

We need clean sheet.

We need our strikers to score to gain bloody confidence.... So 3-0 or 4-0!!!

C`monBlues!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to see Robben start instead of Ballack, but I don't think it is going to happen.

ballack was horrible against city, and doesn't really deserve to start if all are fit.

we'll probably see a cop-out by jose, with the diamond and robben/drogba up front. sheva the fall guy again.

fall guy? Do you mean he`s still injured??

I have a feeling that Sheva will start and Drogba will get rested for the Spurs match. icon_confused.gif

I also have a weird feeling that Ashley Cole will be rested and we will see something strange like Ferreira at leftback or a backline of three. 3-4-3/3-6-1... 259.gif

I mean, sheva will be the player edged out of the side to accomodate this stupid diamond, and robben, who should be playing instead of one of the 4 in the diamond (this time, ballack).

warning, sudden and random outpouring of negativity:

sorry, but does anyone remember jose's promises of an "attacking square" and more attacking football. I remember people saying, you build the defence first and he will in time improve the attack- I was one of them... but in fact, this season we've scored less goals but conceded about the same as this point last season... so we've actually got worse in attack. It's just so frustrating to see... we have the players to play great football- and that includes sheva and ballack... but those buys look increasingly ridiculous when all the manager wants to do is defend. when united win the league it will be because they attack sides, instead of drawing at home to reading and fulham and villa and so on. bah.

[spoil]I don't think we have actually secured our defense this season. With the amount of injuries we've had this season, I think the first priority has been to try and secure the defense and hope that the goals will come. Many times they have come and we have even seen some pretty scorelines, but I think the defense is still the main issue why we haven't seen more daring football...until we go behind, that is. That's when we go all gung-ho![/spoil]

I think playing attacking football and to achieve 95 points mark is just "mission impossible" or you need huge amount of luck, meaning result (late winners,......) and injuries.

That`s all about Mourinho.... I remember last season we won 2 games at home in a row 1-0(against Wigan and Middlesbrough I think) and both were Terry`s headers. We were playing 4-5-1 it was unattractive, but it was 6 points of 6.

That`s Mourinho`s credo.

I've heard that Essien might miss the game. He's still not 100% fit after the game against Spuds.

Mikel is suspended and Cole is out. There's three midfielders gone.

Keeper: Cech (no doubt about that)

Defenders (left -> right): Cole - JT - Riccy - Diarra

Midfielders (left -> right): Robben - Lampard - Makelele - Ballack

Attackers: Drogs - Sheva

Or else Diarra plays instead of Makelele and Ferreira or Geremi plays as right back. Though I haven't heard that Maka isn't fit so it would be foolish to play Diarra instead of him and Geremi/Ferreira in the defence.

Perhaps Boulah get's a chance in this game?

Sheffield have lost their last five and we have won our last five. No need to break a streak right?

4-0 with Drogs, Lamps and Shevs scoring. Drogs nets two. icon_wink.gif

I don't think you'll ever see Chelsea playing an attractive free flowing attacking football as long as Mourinho is in charge.

His style was always to take as little risk as possible and defence first, everything else second.

I admit it's frustrating to watch the team of so much individual talent to play like a rich man's Bolton where the idea of an attack is to constantly lump the ball upfront hoping for Drogba to head it down for hopefully someone else in blue. I swear, if i was a neutral fan, i'd dread to watch Chelsea matches.

You can't argue with the results though. Jose is one of the best in the business when it comes to that.

From the official site:

Chelsea will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows:

1Petr Cech

9 Khalid Boulahrouz

6 Ricardo Carvalho

26 John Terry ©

3 Ashley Cole

24 Shaun Wright-Phillips

4 Claude Makelele

8 Frank Lampard

21Salomon Kalou

7 Andriy Shevchenko

16 Arjen Robben

Subs: 23 Carlo Cudicini, 20 Paulo Ferreira, 22 Lassana Diarra, 13 Michael Ballack, 11 Didier Drogba.

Don't worry, Drogba just rested. Do worry, Boula at RB.

Ballack rested, not dropped icon_wink.gif

That looks more like a 4 4 2 than 4 3 3 to me with SWP and Robben on the wings. Should me interesting how we play with this team.

Well, an interesting line-up with an eye on Monday for sure. I might have used Diarra instead of Maka as we have a home game against weaker opposition, but let's see how it turns out.

Speaking of Monday's game, Berbatov, Lennon, and Keane are on the bench for Spurs--Jol is showing his priorities.
