Riyad Mahrez to Chelsea?

Featured Replies

I completely disagree, you can criticise his goal record sure but he is a very good footballer on the ball.

He can't take corners, can't get a decent ball into the box, rarely creates decent chances. Not sure how that makes a good footballer.

That stamina seems to make him rather good at free kicks though.

He was like Beckham at the start of the season then ended up like Ronaldo the second half of the season.

Playing William in the number 10 role is depressing, he is bad enough on the wing but putting him in the middle is even worse with his lack of creativity. Oscar creates more lol

Look above

Stats are very unreliable. A chance created could literally be a 1 metre pass on the edge of the box. Look how terrible Hazard was this season and he still smashes Willian on almost all those 'stats'.

Stats are more reliable than a random posters opinion. Hazard was terrible because he wasn't scoring goals, he was still creating decent chances.

But Hazard wasn't as bad as people think. It was just his poor goal record and sometimes his body language, injuries made it worse than it was. Stats aren't very reliable when it shows you are wrong but are reliable when it shows you are right.

The point about Hazard shows those stats up alone. Also it doesn't take in account the amount of minutes played at home, the type of opposition etc. Stats are well unreliable, you just need to watch the games to know about William and Oscar.

That's your opinion, so all pundits, press etc said Hazard had a terrible season because he simply wasn't scoring goals.

So you only watched the last 4 games of the season i guess then?

Hazard was absolutely abysmal and i'm sure most people on this forum can tell you how much i defended him throughout the season.

I can go find stats that show Townsend had a better season than Ronaldo in 2013/14 but we all know the bigger picture that it just isn't accurate.

4 good games? oh do me a favour he had plenty more.

To be honest though, it really isn't that much of an exaggeration. Bar Arsenal and Tottenham, when did he play even close to his level before the last few games of the season??

That wasn't the original question though. You said he was abysmal bar 4 games when he wasn't, he had plenty of good games. Bournemouth  home & away, Norwich at home, Man Utd away, Stoke away, Newcastle away and West Brom away off the top of my head, games where he played well in.

Bournemouth (H) - 5.7

Bournemouth (A) - One of the last games of the season, so proves my point.

Norwich (H) - 8.9 - Should we really be congratulating him for playing well against a team that was relegated?

Man Utd (A) - 5.9

Stoke (A) - 6.0

Newcastle (A) - 6.9

West Brom (A) - 7.1 Another meaningless team

The season before he averaged a rating of 7.1.

So i stand corrected, he was only abysmal for 34 out of the 43 games he played.

Where the hell are those ratings from? and when he does have a good game you try to downplay it because it was against a relegation team? how silly is that. I thought you didn't like stats?.

They're from WAGNH, couldn't find a website that showed official ratings (are they a thing??). Also, not really sure where i mentioned any stats from above?

Whoscored.com would be better, anyway this is pointless i just feel Hazard wasn't as bad as people make out last season. He wasn't great sure but not abysmal like some suggest.
