Riyad Mahrez to Chelsea?

Featured Replies

Probably just Adidas trolling us after we ended our deal with them early but here are the pictures

Didn't they do the same thing with that guy United signed from Dortmund

Apparently adidas accidentally put his name and number up on their site in our squad. Maybe just a hoax.

The same thing has happened with Messi and Crouch yesterday. Looks like we're going to have an interesting attack next season.

He'll be leaving leicester no doubt at some point but I presonally feel he should at least take part in leicester maiden CL adventure... However, if leicester doesn't know how to admire him then maybe he has a case to leave.. The report about him being offered 80k a week which is lesser than vardy & kante despite he's the one who got the POTY award is a smack to his worth and logic..

Often players who display loyalty don't get raises while players that threaten to leave do.

It's unfortunate that clubs essentially force loyal players to act unloyal, and risk the wrath of fans, in order to get paid fairly relative to teammates. Of course 80k a week is an amazing salary, but Vardy got 25% more even though I think Mahrez has been more crucial in their campaign. I can understand if Mahrez is upset about that and feels like he needs to threaten to leave, like Vardy did.

Though I didn't follow the events, it struck me that Gerrard never was serious about leaving Liverpool, but it was the only way for him to get the contract he wanted.

It's a waste of time for both the current and the prospective clubs, but that's the way it is, and it happens at other employment places too.

Mahrez, Koulibaly and an experienced striker would really round out the Chelsea squad.

Another real 1v1 threat on the opposite side of Hazard would really make our attack lethal.

It will give Conte team selection headaches since he'll have to decide what to do with Willian, Fabregas and Matic (who starts in the middle with Kante) but that's what happens when you have a good squad.

Didn't arsenal just come out and say they won't be spending big this summer ?

That could have been a quote from any time in the last 10 years.

We should be outbidding them for him, we need another playmaker in central midfield. And considering we bought Kante, I thought we might do the wise thing and bring in Mahrez as well, makes a whole lot of sense.

Mahrez isnt a central midfield playmaker though, he either plays on the wing or off a striker.

He's a playmaker, it doesn't matter where he fits in, we have only got Cesc and Eden, that's it, and if they played like they did last season we will basically have zero playmakers.

Play makers dont have to be central midfielders in fairness, as Coco has pointed out. Zola was a play maker who played behind a striker, Eidur was similar.

That middle line up makes me moist.

I get that but you did say we needed a central midfield playmaker, and while i agree there are players that can drop deep or narrow from other positions, i dont think mahrez is that sort of player. He tends to stay forward and plays much higher up the pitch.

Do we really need another playmaker in general though? I think we are pretty stacked in that respect.

A good one I think we do.

Oscar isn't a very good playmaker, he turns up for a few months then that's about his lot.

Willian isn't really a guy who creates loads either.
