August 2, 20241 yr Birkmyre Park, Port Glasgow The old football pitch at the top of the park. Many a hour as a youngster (from 1975-1985) was spent playing football on that pitch. It actually had a very good playing surface and was quite sheltered. Edited August 2, 20241 yr by erskblue

Went with a mate of mine who I've known since about 1970 and encouraged me to follow Chelsea. He worked for a timber merchant which provided some wood for the building. We got to go in the manager's office.

August 10, 20241 yr 10 hours ago, Boyne said: A great Scotland team. Looks like Jim Holton near the ground. Agreed a great (and very unfortunate) Scotland team. Good shout re Jim Holton. Think it’s Joe Jordan (No 9) who is the other Scotland player in the picture. A very balanced Scottish side. Heard a great story about Jim Holton and Alan Ball. During the 1973 England v Scotland match at Wembley. Holton was ‘robustly challenging’😀 Ball. Eventually Alan Ball snapped and jumped up shouting at the big Scottish centre half. “ You, you, you’re nothing, but a big, ugly, Scottish b****rd!” ”Aye and don’t you ever forget it,”😀 replied a smiling Jim Holton. There ended Alan Ball trying to ‘intimidate’ big Jim Holton!!😀😀 Edited August 10, 20241 yr by erskblue

August 20, 20241 yr I know it's a photo of Spurs and Manchester United players but the two old dears seem to be having a good old natter whilst strolling round the pitch.
