Dave Mackay and Billy Bremner

Dave Mackay confronts Leeds midfielder Billy Bremner in 1966.

MacKay was just making a comeback from a broken leg and thought Bremner had deliberately tried to injure him in the tackle beforehand.

Bremner ‘bottle’ has gone !😀

I know I’ve posted this picture before.

Boyne:There is an interesting article about the 1971 Ibrox Disaster on the bbc website.
Don’t know if you have seen it.

@erskblue Is that the one about the eight young lads (three Celtic fans and five Rangers supporters ) who went to the match? Very moving. So sad that the five 'Gers fans didn't return home. A while back I watched the documentary about Gate 13. Again, very powerful.

I never knew that. That is a shock. A bottle rather than a dram may be required. I'm glad he didn't! What might have been if he had signed for Celtic. As for Charlie Nicholas, I remember some football pundits expressing surprise that he signed for Arsenal and said that he should have gone elsewhere. Possibly tempted by life in London. He didn't perform well at Arsenal.

Yeah it is. There’s also a programme about it on the bbciplayer.

Very poignant and as you say, very powerful.

It was Shoot Magazine it was originally in.    Don’t know if there was ever any remote truth in it!

30th  Dec 1995 at Ibrox. Paul Gascoigne jokingly gave the ref a yellow card!
The ref had dropped it inside the Hibs penalty area.

The ref, Dougie Smith. Obviously had lost any sense of humour he ever had. And Responded by booking him !

HOTO BY COLIN JACK / THE SUN - GAZZA, PAUL GASCOIGNE SHOWS REFEREE THE YELLOW CARD - AND THEN GETS BOOKED.
