Sexual Assult

Hi all I'm just looking for some opinions regarding my local football team Waterford FC, make a long story short they have gone and signed a player http://www.waterfordfc.ie/blues-swoop-premier-division-duo/  Ismahil Akinade pleaded guilty for being involved in gang raping a girl when he was 16, now 16 or not he's crime is still the lowest of the low and age should not play a factor, at 16 you should be well aware of right and wrong, The club knew the feelings of the fans especially when we were originally linked with him our supporters club social media page was not best please but nevertheless they still went on to sign him while all along advertising family friendly season ticket prices which if we are a family friendly club surely signing a player that's after having such a negative affect on a young girl and her family should be the last player we try sign.  I've already got my season ticket but I'm tempted to ask for a refund and I know some of the fans wont be renewing their season tickets and will probably just do away games. My question to the shed end is how would you feel and what would you do if you found your local club brining in a player that gang raped a girl ?  I have wrote a strongly worded letter to the football club but I doubt I'll get a reply.  Personally I'm really pissed off over this.  Thoughts please.

Well we signed Marcos Alonso without anyone kicking up a stink so probably not the best place to ask!

what an idiot he was for drink driving very sad state of affairs, being honest I forgot all about it, not sure I would have it in the same category as gang rape.  You bringing up that information is really after making me feel sick, thanks for the reply.

Two very different situations, IMO.

Alonso's was not intentional an accident.

He decided to drive under the influence, I don’t think the eyes of the law would see it as an accident. He was very lucky to pretty much get away with it, the privilege of being a profession footballer almost certainly had an impact.

What about Graeme Rix back in the day? I don’t remember the fans being too happy when he came back to the club after he got out of prison.

Not arguing with what he did yet uncles of mine used to drink and drive about 20 years ago, they never had accidents.

Spain was known to be behind the West like recently when we had the smoking ban in pubs, Spain didn't.

The chap that got in the car did so out of choice they were both complicit in him drink driving and both should have realised the risks.

Gang raping a girl is predators attacking a vulnerable person and abusing them, there is no choice involved she is forced into being a victim.

Wiki says sexually abusing a 14 year old, if it was rape I would like him inside for a decade at least.

These is an interesting question. Heinous crime but should offenders be censured beyond what the law dictates? Perhaps, and you would then be better of fighting to change the laws.

My response would be different for countries with overtly corrupt judiciaries like India.

There is also the question of whether society has any right to go on punishing a person who has already served the sentence meted out by the court.

The guy gang raped someone f**k him, he's lucky we are in England as some other places you will loose your head for that nastiness!! Chant at him during games and keep petitioning to get the scumbag removed, regarding alonso that's a mistake from what I can gather both were drunk and it was a terrible misfortune, as everyone here knows we know that one guy that always drives drunk and is fine, I can't say I know ANY gang rapists.....
